“Delicious dinner with terrific service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2013

The service staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the various menu selections. The food selections offered a wide variety and the available wine list was lengthy. The eating area is amazing with intricate trim and details. The table service, as you would imagine, was also first class.

My wife and I both decided on the same main course, the organic free range chicken breast, and were very happy with our selection. The chicken was prepared well and pleasantly presented. The combined taste of all the plated items made for an excellent meal.

We then shared a desert selection of brown sugar pound cake. Again we were very happy with our selection. The amount of desert on the plate was perfect, even though the taste of it left us wanting more.

When the check came, it added up to about $45 per person before tip. Even though this is significantly more than our normal restaurant bill, the food and service was well worth it.

I highly recommend this restaurant for a nice romantic meal or to celebrate a special occasion. Of course if you are staying in the grand old historic hotel, it should not be missed.

“Classy, tasty food, but could be better”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2013

One of the top restaurants in Richmond...especially at Christmas. We had a great table in a quiet corner, something few restaurants provide now, a chance for quiet conversation. Server was most attentive in asking what we wanted, but forgot to deliver, and to check on us even as we flagged him down. We got the prix fixe menu. OK, we are light eaters but even these servings were tiny. 2 slices of beef tenderloin, 4 mini gold potatoes the size of marbles. Salmon was 2 inches by 1 inch. Basically, you get a taste and not much more. We filled up on bread which we had to ask for. Creme brûlée was excellent, but 1/2 cup. The food was awesome but for the price, we should have had larger servings. Great setting. Would love to come back but not when too hungry.

“5 Star Christmas Lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 18, 2013

I enjoyed lunch reservations at Lemaire last Christmas season with my co-workers. It was my first visit to the Jefferson hotel, even though I've lived in Richmond for twenty years, and I was blown away. The ambiance, the service, the FOOD... it was all stellar. I highly recommend whether it's for lunch or dinner, with friends or family, and be sure to order dessert!

“A gem at the Jefferson”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2013

We have lived in Richmond for four years, but it took a visit from friends who live in Albuquerque to finally get us to the Lemaire.

Dinner was outstanding. Food was great, sommelier was knowledgeable and (gasp!) not a bit condescending. Service overall was excellent, but our waitress was a bit spacey and not well informed.

Enjoyed both the salmon with veal jus and the Angus Beef tenderloin. Since we are unsophisticated, each of us had at least a small taste of everything ordered. Husband favored the butternut squash soup and salmon, I preferred the beef and the Manikitowne salad.

Finished by sharing two desserts, the somewhat bland creme brulee with the GREAT piece of chocolate and stunningly delicious raspberries, and a really great caramel apple cheesecake.

Wonderful, Wonderful. Will be back!
