Slow roasted beef sandwich with sweet potato fries was very good. Fried oyster appetizer, was ok. Small oysters, a bit over salted. Others in party had super size salads, reported as very tasty. Another had BBQ brisket sandwich, and didn't like it so much. The bun was the culprit in this case.

Very loud atmosphere, waitress had to lean into the middle of the booth to be heard and to hear our order. But everyone seemed to be having fun, and that's a plus. I would definitely go back.

The new Phils is not the Old Phils - for all the wrong reasons....stopped by their with my better half for dinner the other night and was highly dissapointed!

I've been going to Phils for years and the new site is small and cramped, it was almost empty (getting ready for Thursday Kareoke - which packs them in) - and the AC must have been broken as it was hot as hell. We waited for a table outside - which is a plus - as they always have good outside seating.

While service was good, the food was mediocre at best. The Burger was weak in terms of substance and taste. If you can't do a good burger - what can you do? On a positive note, the Philly was spot on and the fries were cooked perfectly, with just enough crisp, but not burnt.

I"ll try it again, but for those looking, don't get your hopes up!

We went with another couple for dinner last week and as the evening wore on the decibel level increased until conversation was impossible - if that's what you like then this is the place for you. Frankly, had the fire marshal stopped by he probably would have emptied the place. The service was slow, but considering the crowd probably not that slow, the server was attentive - a feat among so many people. As for the food, one friend had the Home Run, a massive pile of various meat on bread; I had lamb on a roll - quite good and nicely prepared with Greek yogurt, the only disappointment was the lobster roll -for the price it wasn't much and should have been served with a substantial side (rather than chips) to compensate for the $15.00 price. One of the friends had been there for lunch and enjoyed conversation with coworkers, so again, whether the Continental will appeal to you depends on what kind of "scene" you're into - it was just too crowed and noisy for this reviewer.

Except for the old wooden paneling that I miss, this spot is much improved and offers great value. I had the brats & homemade sauerkraut; my wife the Phil's Cheeseburger. The old Phil's just down the street was decent after years of being only so-so; the new Phil's really delivers quality and value. The beer selection is not fab, and I'm a beer snob, but they do have decent two locals on tap and some variety in bottles. I look forward to trying a cocktail. Unlike many such bars, the TVs were easy to ignore...Thank God, for they are plague on the land.

Get a limeade and call yourself a Richmonder. Phil's harkens back to a more tranquil time, and I'll be sure to return again and again.

I, just like many other Richmonders, was excited about the "new" Phil's opening up after the original Phil's close down. I have been to the new location a handful of times to meet friends, and let me just say- they have some issues. The service is incredibly slow- it's almost like you need to wave a flag and yell "I'M HERE" for anyone to notice you. All and all, the service is so frustrating that it's hard to go back... Don't get me wrong- the service is friendly, but it seems like they are lost. Also, both times I ordered a limeaid they were awful- like they forgot to add sugar to it... You can't mess up what you are known for!
