Description: Buddy's Place began with a simple goal in mind: to have a place where people can come and relax. Whether it be lunch with friends, drinks after work or a night out on the town, this neighborhood grill has embraced the idea of bringing friends together. The business changed hands in 1982 when Mike Kid Dealto and Al Tuna Evans took over, and a new era began. Catering to the young, and the young at heart, we here at Buddy's have always believed that good food and good people equal good times. Since its inception Buddy's has grown with this neighborhood and throughout the years many faces have passed through these doors, both customer and employee alike, many of which have moved on to help promote our community with businesses of their own. Thus, the Buddy's family continues to grow. Today, Buddy's is owned by Mike and Marian Dealto and Greg Nevi. Although some of the faces may have changed the idea remains the same. By sticking to one simple recipe, Buddy's has been a place where friends have met and friendships have been made for over thirty two years. As of January 2015 we have relocated to the corner of Sheppard Street and Patterson Ave (the devil's triangle) in the upper Fan.

“The beginning of the journey”

Buddy's Place is a fan favorite that is long on drinks and loud music and short on good food and ambience. It is typically known as the beginning point and ending point of Robinson street patrons ritual weekend journey. Nothing much changes here and like a soap opera, you can be gone for a while and not miss a beat as you see the same faces in the same place.

The staff is a mix of attractive young women and men mostly in their 20s and 30s who are professional and courteous for the most part. As legend has it one waitress/bartender in particular prides herself in being the B word and enjoys controlling customers and making them as miserable as she seems to be. She is enjoyable when she is in a good mood but unbearable when she is in a bad mood. It appears that she is allowed to operate with virtual impunity.

I witnessed a shocking development one evening when I was within earshot of one waitress as I was standing within a few feet of her and observed her to be visibly angry as she brazenly said "I overcharged him. Oh, yes I did" and apparently did so with virtual impunity. She then proceeded to proudly high five a customer who appeared to approve of her immoral and reprehensible action of taking advantage of and stealing from a customer by shaking his head up and down. So, always ask for an itemized tab, save the itemized tab and your customer copy and know how much you had to drink.

There seems to be little direction or management supervision concerning the staff and not only can the customer service be lacking but the quality of the food is lacking as well. I have witnessed many incorrect orders or poorly prepared orders that were thrown away because of carelessness from the kitchen or orders taken incorrectly by waitresses. They serve very basic bar food. Lunch and dinner fare include burgers, club sandwiches, and chicken tenders.

It is hit or miss here especially during weekend brunches. Weekend nights are crowded with a with mostly late 20s to mid 30s yuppies who drink heavily into the early morning hours where loud hip hop music permeates the environment. It is basically a watering hole that is long on cheap drinks, attitude from one waitress in particular, and short on good quality tasty food, ambience, and management oversight.
