Two friends and I visited Dutch & Co. on a recent visit to Richmond and were delighted with our weeknight meal. We all ordered the prix fixe dinner -- a most generous deal for $28.00 -- but had different dishes. The cooking is imaginative -- my mahi mahi featured several different but not clashing tastes -- and there's some Dutch influence, evident in the charming stroopwafel dessert. The chocolate "parfait", which is actually a collection-in-a-cup of varying chocolate tastes, is distinctive and irresistible. The wine list is extensive, interesting, and reasonably priced. Our waitress was as charming as she was well-informed (yet not pretentious), and we also enjoyed the enthusiasm of one of the three young founding partners with whom we had the chance to speak. They started this restaurant less than a year ago, and we liked the understated makeover of an older commercial space that formerly housed a pharmacy (nice glass storefront look with pressed-tin ceiling). As the space is small, reservations are recommended.
