“Good Inexpensive Turkish Meal”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

I wasn't too impressed with the ambiance of Doner Kebab. Service is at the counter, but food is brought to you. The benches are missing cushions and the Turkish pop music was annoying. Food was a bit better. The Lamb and Beef Shawerma (Turkish version of a gyro) was fairly light an served with a nice filling of salad and sauce. The portion of meat was fairly small and it looked like the meat wasn't freshly sliced from a rotating grill as I would expect in a good gyro place. A small pizza with zaatar spice and a tri-fold pita stuffed with spinach and cheese were pretty good. A salad was fairly fresh but loaded with gray tomato slices. French fries were your standard frozen items, but crisply fried. Available drinks were in cans or bottles. Definitely not high cuisine, but OK if you just get a sandwich as takeout. There is outdoor seating, so it might be a good cheap place for people watching in Carytown on a warm night.

“After actually gone to Turkey this is the best representation of good food on the go.”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

Music is great and after coming here for over a year.. the food has gone from excellent to excellent. If I lived closer to the edge of carytown im pretty sure I would visit daily. The owner is great and friendly. Best lamb in town.

“Doner Kebab in Richmond”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

A small place, and it is a fast food shop rather than restaurant. It does not taste like a Turkish Doner, and actually it is very different. They use tahin while prepearing kebab, which is generally used in making dessert. I think it is not a Turkish cousine, but it is good to find a Doner Kebab in this area.

“Turkish food”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

Went to try it on a friend's advice. The shop(Doner Kebab) is in a inconspicuous and less busy part of Carytown with a cone with meat as the sign. The joint is small and the menu simple. I tried the lamb shwarma for $6. The food is prepared fresh and feels'light' on the stomach. It remains open until 3 00 am on Friday and Saturday which is nice to know.
