I wasn't too impressed with the ambiance of Doner Kebab. Service is at the counter, but food is brought to you. The benches are missing cushions and the Turkish pop music was annoying. Food was a bit better. The Lamb and Beef Shawerma (Turkish version of a gyro) was fairly light an served with a nice filling of salad and sauce. The portion of meat was fairly small and it looked like the meat wasn't freshly sliced from a rotating grill as I would expect in a good gyro place. A small pizza with zaatar spice and a tri-fold pita stuffed with spinach and cheese were pretty good. A salad was fairly fresh but loaded with gray tomato slices. French fries were your standard frozen items, but crisply fried. Available drinks were in cans or bottles. Definitely not high cuisine, but OK if you just get a sandwich as takeout. There is outdoor seating, so it might be a good cheap place for people watching in Carytown on a warm night.
