“Hollywood Cemetary Visit”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

Beautiful old cemetary. Lots of hills and some are steep but if you cannot walk then drive through and enjoy the beauty. On hill above the river so you get a great look at the James River below. Make sure to park and walk around presidents circle. Several presidents and famous people buried here and lots of history.

“Educational Experience”

My first tip is stop at the office and buy their $1 map if you are wanting to see Presidents Circle. It is not visible while driving by. President John Tyler, President John Monroe and Confederate President Jefferson Davis are buried here. Very lovely well kept property with lots of history.

“Incredible beauty, loads of history”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

There are so many famous people buried here that you could map them out & visit grave to grave. But there's much more than that - the artwork & beauty of the gravestones is outstanding. The peace and loveliness of the park-like surrounding makes for a welcome contrast to the hustle of everyday life. The views of the James river & the city are really nice. I know they offer segway tours of the park, but we enjoyed parking & walking. It's an especially nice trip in the Fall, when the leaves are changing or in Spring time when everything begins to bloom. So much to see - I would recommend a guided tour at first to get the history & back stories, then just wander where your curiousity takes you.

“Lovely Cemetery”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Great view of the James River. Interesting mixture of old and new graves. The map is definitely worth it, but even if you don't get the map they have a blue stripe painted on the roadway so you can do a car tour. The trees were in bloom and beautiful, and there were lots of birds around. There were even people sunbathing in the cemetery!
