“I live here and I love it!”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

I've lived on monument for close to a year and I still find it charming to walk up and down in any season! The historical homes are just beautiful and the monuments are a quick look into the history of the south!

“impressive wide boulevard lined with equally impressive houses”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

It was a sunny mid-winter afternoon, and our first visit to Richmond. We drove up and down Monument avenue admiring the many impressive 19th and early 20th century houses in what seemed to have been a very upscale neighborhood away from the city center. Many of those homes are very well preserved and maintained, especially the three-story brick ones designed in classical eighteenth century colonial style.
The monuments to Lee, Jackson and others were also impressive.

“A pleasant drive”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

The statutes are nice but it is more interesting for the beautiful homes you see along the way. A recommended diversion. I assume that it would be beautiful when the trees are in bloom

“Great place to take newbies to Richmond”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

This is the in-spot to take first-time visitors to Richmond. It's like stepping back in time. The cobblestone streets and the wonderful monuments are quite the attraction. Visitors are always in awe and in the spring time, when the flowering trees are in bloom throughout the median, it's breathtaking. Classic southern architecture and every home is different. Lots of pride in ownership and some of the nicest homes in Richmond are on this street. A must-see for visitors.

“Love at first sight”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

I attended grad school at VCU in the mid 80's. My apartment was just off Monument Avenue near the Boulevard. For two years I had the pleasure of riding my bike or walking on Monument Avenue everyday. Loved it in the fall when the maples were at their most glorious.
