“Mini Louvre”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2014

This museum, which is free, is an amazing effort to take the visitor from the beginnings of civilization to 20th century painters. There's sampling of works from all over the world for this expanse of time. Unless you live in a large city with quality museums, this is a must for all visitors to Richmond.

“Pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2014 via mobile

I was pleasantly surprised with the exhibits and the amount of artwork this museum carries. Our visit was soley to see one exhibit and unfortunatley I didn't get a chance to view more but I will definitely try to visit again next time I'm in Virginia.

My boss took me here for Admin Day - we walked through the Museum first - was very nice. The lunch was delicious and service was very good. Nice views of Richmond.

“Crown jewel of Richmond's art and cultural scene”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2014

This well-endowed museum, which charges no entrance fee for its general collections, is beautiful. It has a nicely diverse collection of paintings, sculpture, etc., not to mention its signature Faberge egg collection, and special exhibits (such as Dale Chihuly last year or so) are top notch.
The cafeteria there is also quite good, a favorite stop when visiting the museum with our small grandchildren. VMFA is a testimony to the museum supporters' philanthropy and effort to make art accessible to everyone.
