my wife and i purchased a private tour and cocktail party for 20 guests. I would highly recommend this type of event. Tour was excellent and the cocktail/food was a pleasant experience.

It is always a treat to visit the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, even when it does not have a special exhibition. The staff is very friendly and helpful throughout the museum. During our most recent visit we discovered the permanent exhibition of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, which has room after room of beautiful furniture, jewelry and furnishings. The rest of the collections are also wonderful and well worth a visit. The location is center city but, nonetheless, has a park-like with surface and undercover parking (for a fee). The museum also has two restaurants, a casual cafeteria on the ground floor and a sit-down restaurant on the top floor. Both are very enjoyable, and both offer al fresco dining opportunities.

We missed the Fabrege exhibit, but would recommend this spot as a must see. 21st Century exhibits are excellent.

We really enjoyed our visit to VMFA. Lovely grounds, a nice variety of art/special exhibits, but the highlight was the restaurant upstairs! We almost ate on the first floor, but decided to splurge and were so glad we did. Our lunch at VMFA was the best meal of a long weekend of travel in VA. We all had unusual and delicious meals. Very nice wine list as well.

This is a top-notch museum - one of the best MFA in the country in my opinion. Great special exhibits.
