A great night race! Very easy to find seats--we were in Sprint section. Had a great view of track & pit area. The pre-race ceremonies were very emotional tributes to our armed forces. One problem going in--we had a soft side cooler with a hard plastic insert--the security woman we had would not let us take it in---we had to throw the hard plastic insert out. Facilities were clean for this type of event. Crowd was pleasant. After race, it was an orderly exit from the race grounds. Only other problem we encountered was with the traffic routes. The police did not allow left or right turns from the main road for what seemed like miles. This makes following a GPS back to your hotel a little crazy.

This was our 1st time at Richmond for the Auto Parts 400. Traffic was horrific; parking was horrific and expensive (in my opinion). We got lucky and parked at a convenience store close to the track. Parking may be plentiful, but you must get there early. Our seats were in the 1st row and there wasn't a good view unless you stood up. I would recommend getting a seat at least 5 to 10 rows up. As far as atmosphere, food, drinks, souvenirs; no complaints. It was a learning experience; we'd know what to do differently next time.

My wife and I went to the Federated Auto Parts 400 at the Richmond International Speedway. There is really not a bad seat in the place. My recommendation is renting a device called "Fanview". It's about $ 40 at the track, but well worth it. This handheld unit provides first and foremost the necessary hearing protection you need at the track during a race. You can listen to your favorite driver as they talk back and forth to the crew chief. The drivers that have in car cameras allow you to ride with them through the lens of their camera. Fanview is a lot of fun to use. NASCAR racing is exciting to watch and experience. Follow the schedule and when a race comes to Richmond, go have a "great time at the race." Tailgating in the parking lot is a lot of fun , so bring your brats, burgers, and beer, and spend the day having a blast !

This is a great venue for a race. There are good options for food and drink and everything is compact. The parking is plentiful. The only drawback is that because the race track is in the city, traffic into and out of the speedway parking in heavy. Allow plenty of time and be patient.

We try to take in a Nascar race each year while incorporating our annual vacation and include with area site seeing. This was, by far, the best racing venue we've attended to date! It was crazy! with acres and acres of RVs and camping for pre-race activities. The local police did a good job with traffic controls making getting in [a little time consuming] to getting out [very easy and quick]. Lots of fun activities, shows, give aways, meet and greet with drivers and food options for fans! Speaking of the fans -- very nice, polite, highly enthusiastic but well behaved. Started our day at 11 am and had plenty to do before the 7pm race. It was fun walking in the pit area, walking around a very steep track and writing a message to our favorite drivers on the white finish line [Go Dale, Jr and Denny Hamlin!]. Was up front during driver interviews with Greg Biffle, Dale Earnhardt, Jr and Kasey Kahne which was fun! Was in the audience during Race Day show...love John Roberts and Kyle Petty!! Crazy race and very eventual ending...and the controversy continues!!
