I am a big fan of NASCAR and I always go to there races. The track has basically everything you need and its smaller than other tracks so it makes it easy to move around. I enjoy every race I go to at RIR (Richmond International Raceway). NASCAR is not the only thing RIR dose, it has F1 races, gun shows, home and garden shows, concerts, etc. Fun for all ages. If you do plan to go to the race track try to prepare ahead of time. Ex. eating before your get there, bring blanket or pillow because the metal benches can get cold after a wile, bring hearing protection, etc. also has RV and tent camping with running water, electricity, and sewage dump.

RIR is a great place to see a race, the action is exciting theres not a bad seat in the house. The races are at night but you need to get to the track early to avoid traffic and get good parking especially for Saturday nights race. There is alot to do at the track, the Midway is full of vendors and race sponsers who give out alot of free stuff and there is also the drivers merchandise trailers on the midway. This spring Toyota had a test drive area where you could drive or ride along in one of the trucks or suv's on a dirt area that had hills and banking, it looked fun, unfortunately the area was set up right by the handicapped parking lot* where we park) and the dirt was flying and covered the cars and made tailgating not so fun. The idea was great but they need to put it elsewhere. The front stretch new entrance area was great.
They put in benches and picinic tables so at leats you can sit and eat. They did a nice job.
We go to Richmond every year and for both spring and fall races, we love it. Get a pit pass for Friday and you can watch tje Cup cars practice and qualify from pit row, You can see some of the drivers walking to the garage and they stop and sign autographs( most do).The only bad thing about the track is that people don't stay in their seats!!! there is alot of people walking in front of the grandstands ( though the police and ushers do their best to keep it moving), People go up and down the grandstands alot and stand on the stairs and block your view. The seats could be a little wider, it can get tight in a row if the row is full and if there are some overnourished people in your row it can be a tight squeeze. But all in all it is a greta place to see a race and the staff at the track do a great job, and there is alt of things for fans to do while at the track. If you love NASCAR go to Richmond, you won't be disappointed!!!!

First time to Richmond! Sat both in the stands and also spent two races in the infield! We were fortunate to be able to park directly behind the track, as other parking was a little distance. Trams running kept up pretty well!. Only two complaints did I have....we had infield tickets and went out to the midway, and were told upon attempting to re-enter, we did not have tickets and were made to walk all the way around the track to the back tunnel to get back inside the track. Also, due to the infield tickets, on Saturday, we were not allowed to go through the pedestrian tunnel to the grandstands to purchase things such as ice cream, souvieners, etc.

First off this track does an amazing job with parking and moving the vehicles in and out of the track. We usually hit one NASCAR race a year and love to get the pit passes I found it a bit expensive here for what areas they let you in but it was good and there are opportunities to get some autographs and pictures. Tailgating here was great and everyone was very friendly and fun to be around. Overall we had a great time at RIR!!
