Maymont has to be experienced in order to be described. Everything they do, they do well.

Garden Glow was spectacular! It was a refreshing autumnal-themed change of pace from the countless holiday-in-lights displays across the country. It was well run and well organized.

Tour the mansion. Everything in it is real. May you be lucky enough to have Evelyn as your guide. The entire basement floor of the mansion is dedicated to extensive exhibits detailing behind the scenes, and the vastly different lives of the help. This is well worth the time.

My parents and I visited this house in October. We had a super knowledgeable guide that really brought the house and its former owners alive. The tour and entrance to the park are by donation so you really get your value for your money. The gardens were lovely. We tried to visit the zoo but there was a storm coming so all the animals were inside but we did see a few. I thought this was a really great spot.

An absolutely beautiful place, with wonderful gardens (especially the Japanese garden with the waterfall). If you have time out in Afton VA (about 100 miles west) is Sawannoah which was a summer home built by the same family also worth visiting.

Maymount is a beautiful park, great to walk around on a nice afternoon. Definitely wear comfortable walking shoes, as the park is huge, windy and has hills. There are plenty gardens, some animals and history to see.

The gardens and property were really nice. Wear good walking shoes and know there are some hills up and down along with stairs. I do think they had a gold Cart tour for those not able to walk the property. I bet the Glow Night display would be really fun. The Carrilion Tower near the property is worth driving or walking too, very pretty.

Built overlooking the James River in Richmond. Expansive and beautiful gardens variously themed. The house tour was a highlight with our guide both knowledgeable and very interesting. The various rooms in the house were striking in their decoration and history. A real treat to visit such an iconic property. If in Richmond should be on the "to do" list. Entry works on a donation system.

Wonderful park. We had a great volunteer guide in the house, a Mr Wyatt, who truly enjoyed what he did and was an expert. He was very knowledgeable. The house was wonderful and full of treasures and he knew many stories. The grounds are well cared for. It would be easy to spend a couple days here. I like the idea of asking to pay what you can and pay for sections you want to see and not having to pay for others. Very reasonable and a great day. Well worth it.
