“Free tour”
Reviewed March 8, 2013 via mobile

Visited the Capitol Building this morning. Free tour, guide is a great historian. Thoroughly knows the History of Virginia. Impartial, unlike you'd expect, with no nostalgia even in the presence of Robert E. Lee. The Cupola is on the inside only. Weekday is the best time to visit, limited free 1 hr parking right at the entrance. Accross the street is the City Hall (900 E. Broad St.) with a windy observation deck of Richmond.

“Fun History Guided Tour”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

A small and charming capitol.
If you have the time, do take the docent tour. You can sign up at the front desk. It gives you some fun history facts of the building and Virginia so you don't miss the history of it all.
The film Lincoln was film here if you like this sort of things.
You do have to go through security check.
Love the gift shop.
Free Parking is a headache.

“You must visit!”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

We went here because it was on a list of things for our Cub Scout to do and were very glad we did. Our tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about the building and its history. She had a great voice that carried well so it was easy to understand her, unlike quiet guides in other places. It was great to hear her tell about what was like when they filmed 'Lincoln' there - that's something you wouldn't learn about in a self-guided tour. Definitely worth the time (1 hour) and price (free!).
