“Not worth your time...”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

There are so many great restaurants within a few blocks of this place, don't waste your time here. The food was average. The drinks were WAY overpriced. The service was AWFUL - rude, lazy, and arrogant.

We went here a couple of weeks ago and I was really unimpressed by everything (except the fried olives which were delicious). As others have said, the service is slow and rude. They may be knowledgeable about cheese and wine, but they certainly don't know much about customer service.

If you are in Carytown, there are a LOT of great places within a few blocks of Secco. I'd recommend Mezzanine, C Street (one of my favorites), Can Can (great bar selection here, too), or Bonvenu. All have great food, drinks, and service. Don't waste your time with Secco.

“Unacceptable Service”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

I feel the title of my review is fair and says it all. The service we experienced the other night, which included an apparently disgruntled waiter tossing an unprovoked insult (?!?!?) at me and my friends, was generally absent, discourteous, and rude. My advice, as a Richmonder, is to consider spending your hard-earned money elsewhere.

“Can Not Understand Why This Establishment is Held in High Regard!”
Reviewed September 9, 2012 via mobile

The service was arrogant and uninterested in supporting our table. The plating of the miniscule amounts of food was ridiculous....both in the lack of presentation, size, and taste. 3 medium sized unremarkably seasoned shrimp on top of bland beans were atrociously priced at 12. Haute cuisine it was not! Being arrogant and giving small amounts of food should not scare customers into believing that they should not question... I have traveled throughout Europe and frequent many types of establishments..."putting on airs" can not hide the truth. I do wish this place well....as many wine enthusiastics are noted at tastings, a good wine is not verified by its pretty bottle or by the room it is drank in...a good wine is all abouts its taste....... and apparently some people like this place...we unfortunately, did not...

“A great wine bar with European flair”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

The staff is extemely knowledgeable about wine and cheeses. The cheese platters served with chutneys on the side are wonderful. Nice quiet atmosphere in the heart of Carytown if you want to visit shops nearby.

“A good start to an evening out”

Interesting wine selection and enticing food. We only had a bit of wine and charcuterie before moving on. Bartender was very helpful. Would go again.
