We have stayed at this property twice now. First time was from a Groupon. We had such a great experience we went back even though I tend to like to try new places. Absolutely lovely. Huge comfortable rooms. Quiet. Good individual temperature control. Pleasant staff. Historic hotel. Pretty little courtyard. Clean. Adequate breakfast included. Reasonably priced for quality. I felt like I was coming home when I checked in this time. Had to walk outside a little bit from elevator to entrance to hallway to the entrance to the two rooms. Had a few stairs first down then up to room so beware if bringing heavy roller-bag, trouble negotiating stairs or something of the sort. Other configurations of rooms available if you need that. There was a wedding going on the weekend we were there. Would be a nice venue for a small event. We will be back.

I don't know the history of this place; the architecture suggests it filled some other role in the past. But it had several things going for it during our one-night stay in Richmond. Our room felt very non-institutional -- a bit more like a huge old bedroom in a house. Everything was very clean, and it was quiet. The free "continental breakfast" included many choices, and the free wi-fi worked well.

One minor drawback was the limited parking. We could have paid for the $12 valet service, but instead pretty easily found on-street spaces within a block. At night the neighborhood looks a bit shabby/deserted, so we're weren't sure about the advisability of walking much. But in the morning, it looked just fine -- situated across the street from the city's central library. All in all, it felt like a real find.

If you're so inclined to step into history, you will love staying at this "period" hotel as much as we did. Our room was a step into the Richmond of yesteryear with high ceilings, crown mouldings, dark wood and a lovely chandelier. We stayed in a room that had an adjoining bedroom and sitting parlour. To remove all hints of the modern world, they hid the TV in the dark wooden armoire. They have updated the bathrooms...our's wasn't fancy but it was shiny and clean. They make every effort to retain the "historic" southern charm but also provide a multi-outlet for plugging in all the electronic devices. Free wireless is highly appreciated. The hotel is a healthy walk to the Tragedar Iron Works and a wonderful walking path by the river. There are excellent restaurants nearby, definitely walking distance. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. There is an open air courtyard with tables and umbrellas. The buffet breakfast was OK, not exceptional although the staff working the dining room were very attentive. The entire experience is a wonderful value for the price. Staying there is a memorable experience but offering a few extra amenities, in my opinion, would move this from a very good to a truly excellent. Highly recommend room 218. Must say that our relatives visiting from another country stayed in rooms just below us that were not nearly as nice. Ask before you book! The hotel is located on a busy street, just opposite the public library but the room was very quiet.

Linden Row is an amazing tribute to historic preservation. They saved eight historic townhomes in Richmond and converted them to beautiful hotel accommodations, including a charming courtyard and exterior corriders. We were very pleased with the location, midway between downtown and the Fan, and an easy walk over to the James River walking trails. The staff was friendly, the room rate was reasonable, and the room with high ceilings and lots of light was fantastic. The breakfast was just basic continental, but eating in the courtyard was delightful. We easily parked on the street (2 hour limit 9-6).

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building and on a higher floor.

I stayed there for two nights, when I visited Richmond for a conference. The hotel is in walking distance from the Greater Richmond Conference Center. Clean rooms, renovated bathroom. There is no fridge. You have to pay valet parking. $12 per day. Nearby parking lots are more expensive. Free wi-fi. Pretty good for its price.

Linden Row Inn consists of an historic brick and frame 5 story main structure and several brick carriage houses in the rear cobblestone garden/seating area. Built after the Civil War and restored in the 1980's, the Inn provides a quiet, friendly and quite different place to stay. We stayed in one of the carriage houses which is very nicely furnished (with a real non-working fireplace.) Some of the rooms and salons in the main house are furnished with antiques. The whole place gives you a sense of living in history. Moderately priced, it is out of the busy Downtown/Shockoe area but just a few blocks away from the night life. Virginia Commonwealth University is nearby. We found some great restaurants within walking distance on Grace and Broad Streets. The staff is very friendly and gave us discount coupons for a restaurant down the street. Parking is free on the street after 4 PM, but valet service is $12.00/night. A free continental breakfast is served which was adequate. Although very nice, the Inn will probably be needing a spruce-up in the near future.

I cannot say enough good things about Linden Row. We've stayed here many times over the last 5 years and have always had a wonderful experience. The rooms are cozy and clean, the service is great and the location is perfect. The free shuttle is a major plus, especially if the weather is sketchy. Don't miss walking 2 blocks to Tarrants cafe...food, ambiance, and service is amazing

Room Tip: We love the courtyard rooms. They are small but so charming and quiet
