“Great hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 16, 2013 via mobile

To keep it short: I can not understand the issues some people have with this hotel. It is charming and clean. Staff was very helpful. There might be better locations. But they have a complimentary shuttle. Would stay there again.

Stayed for two nights, and no real complaints. Hotel is well-priced, love the high ceilings, and love the write-up on the history of the place. Super comfortable beds, Ceilings are ridiculously high and the rooms are much larger than average. The Television was a bit on the fritz, but we’re not much of TV watchers on the road anyways. Staff was extremely helpful, valet ($12/day) and the shuttle service was big plus as well. Breakfasts are adequate, nothing too fancy, there is a waffle maker, and there are a selection of pastries and cereals – no complaints. Coffee is advertised as available around the clock, but the few times we went to fill-up, it was empty. As you can see – only minor grievances; The Linden Row is a fantastic choice for downtown Richmond, and about half the cost of the Jefferson – which is a 2 block walk away.

Thank you for writing a review about your recent stay in one of the Main House rooms at the Linden Row Inn. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with us.

We do apologize for running out of coffee. Our 24-hour coffee service is rather popular, and the pot sometimes finishes up before we get a chance to replenish it. Needless to say, our Front Desk is always happy to make a fresh pot upon request.

We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Did some researching on the web and decided to stay at this downtown inn. Got a good rate too ($87). It was a rainy cold gloomy day right after new years. The Inn was quiet and not many people. I had a courtyard room which was very nice and comfortable. It had a queen bed with a coffee pot in the room. They also have wifi. Its slightly outdated and could use a refresher (replace wallpaper) but it was fine. There is another area that has rooms but don't know what those rooms look like. Loved the courtyard and I figure that would be a nice spot during nicer weather. I didn't eat the breakfast. Its only street parking, where you can park for free from 6pm to noon or "valet" which takes your car to a parking lot around the corner and its 12 bucks. I took a walk to the Jefferson hotel which is 2 blocks away just to see the lights and the interior. And also walked a few of the main street areas but everything was closed other then a few restaurants. Very convenient to downtown attractions. I would stay again. Staff was very nice and helpful.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights recently, and stayed in one of the garden house rooms. At $95/night, it seemed pretty good for a downtown rate. As others have said, this place is very charming, and has much interesting history wrapped up in it. However, it needs some serious updating in several areas. Our room was very quiet(which was what we wanted) but the shower vent in the bathroom was not runnng, and the bubbling ceiling paint from the beginnings of mold showed it. Also, the thermostat was 1950s era, and one had to set it 15 degrees higher than wanted just to try to make it comfortable. When it did run, it blew cold air very noisily, which does not help light sleepers. The TV was old and had a fuzzy reception.
Parking in Richmond is a real challenge, and the only choice here is to use the valet($12) since street parking or garage parking isn't allowed overnight and is prohibited during morning rush hour.
On the plus side, the shuttle is very convenient for those who don't want to venture into strange neighborhoods at night for dinner plans, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was average, since one can't expect too much from a continental.

Room Tip: Do your homework before reserving a room. If you're willing to pay more, a suite might be the wa...

We stayed a night and had requested a quiet room. The room was in the garden section, quiet and good size. The staff was very courteous and helpful and their shuttle service was extremely useful. The breakfast was decent though orange juice could be improved. Will highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Linden 1-3 January and really enjoyed it... We walked to the Museum's, Capital, etc... It is centrally located in downtown. We enjoyed the feel and charm of the Inn. We had a suite and it was large and furnished with nice couches and furniture of the period. Breakfast could be better but sufficed. We would definitely stay there again!!!

The place has inherent charm, however, it is kept in a shabby condition and the staff is lack luster. The staff is not friendly and they make no effort to make you feel welcome. We stayed there one night only because we were too tired from a long drive, but I remember the lack of friendlyness from the front desk staff. For a little more money, one can get a better facility and customer service.
