Comfortable beds, hotel service is SUPERIOR, but housekeeping leaves a little bit to be desired. Can be a little noisy so if you like it quiet, ask to be away from the elevators. Because of the fantastic conference facilities, this is a choice hotel for any group and the staff is "over the top" accommodating."

Some rooms have a great view of the Capitol but you may want to ask for that too. Others overlook parking lots but with all the activities around you may not want to hang out in your room too much anyway.

Large comfortable beds have clean white linens and spa robes. Spa soap, lotion and shampoo products are provided in the rooms. The towels are large and soft. Bathrooms are nice with tub/shower combinations and travertine marble. A little dated, but still very nice and large. The room has a mini bar and coffee maker and a safe, however my safe was broken. It did not matter, because I travel with very few valuables. Average, bit nice closet space with a levered door and extra blankets.

Overall, I would stay again since I know what to ask for. The hotel has a shuttle service that will take you within a five mile radius. Use it. Parking is expensive and limited downtown, but be prepared to wait 15-25 minutes for the shuttle.

The hotel provides valet and self parking but both are about $21 a day.

Richmond has some of the best genealogy resources, cemeteries of famous colonial figures and USA colonial history sites and this hotel places you very close to many of them. Loved that it was close to several historical sights, has restaurants close by, a coffee shop and sweet downstairs in the lobby and access to a YMCA for fitness.

It was easy to find and return to the highway.

Room Tip: It depends on whether you want to be in the center of the action or you want quiet surroundings. If...

Pros:
Staff was very nice and efficient. Handled my two room changes well. (See "Too noisy.")
Rooms were clean and fairly well appointed.
Nice walking distance from some restaurants.
Great breakfasts at Trevi's.

Cons:
Too noisy. Rooms with adjoining doors, lots of kids, and barking dogs.
WiFi was too slow.
Gym (YMCA) not open Sundays.

Room Tip: Dogs are on the third floor. Rooms with king beds have adjoining doors and are noisy. My favorite ro...

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Omni Hotel in Richmond, VA this past weekend. He has an English Bull Terrier Staffordshire (looks just like a Pitbull) so we are somewhat hesitant at times when he is with us, not because of him, but because of people and their opinions of the breed. When we arrived, from the valet to the front desk - everyone came over to pet him and rub his belly. It turns out that Richmond is a huge Bull Terrier city as there are a handful of rescue organizations for that breed in the city. It was really great to hear that as Richmond is a great city to visit for a weekend away! We also got a dog toy and treats in our room when we arrived! I will definitely call Omni's first when I travel as the front desk agent said she thought most were dog friendly!

Our stay which included my husband and our 3 daughters, 21, 19 and 18 was our annual vacation. Never visited Virginia before. The hotel was terrific. Extremely convenient location to the highway in any direction and other sites in the Richmond area. Walking distance to restaurants. It is a gem in the middle of a urban environment. We are from the Boston area which is much busier and larger so this hotel and its location worked perfectly as there was little to no stress getting around in the unfamiliar area. The pool was a bonus and a wonderful way to end our days. We were there for four nights. In- room dining was fun having ordered desserts twice. A real treat. We would highly recommend this hotel.

3 Blocks from the Capital and a few blocks from the Canal Ride. Plenty historical sites to see with this hotel being in the central location of them. We will have to come back again to finish seeing all the sites.

Old world charm comes to mind wow. It sits right on the Shockoe Slip which makes you feel like you're still in the 1800's. It's amazing gas lamps cobble streets wrought iron it's from another time and another era. It's really amazing.

The hotel fits next to all this too. It's a modern office tower and the atrium is connected via a glass walk way to an office tower. Yet with all that there's still brass fixtures and oak paneling all over the hotel making it feel like the old south.

The rooms are nice has been recently redone you can tell but it's a great Omni and the place is decorated so nicely. Very comfortable bed and the front desk people are so nice. Make you feel right at home. Restaurant is wonderful had grits there how southern and then also a basic peach pancake that was so light and crisp. Wonderful breakfast highly suggest the hotel's restaurant. Very nice.

Oh one tip look for parking within 6-8 blocks you can park free. If you park at the hotel it's almost New York pricing in a city that's not that big.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our one night get away to celebrate our anniversary at the Omni Richmond. Despite both of us growing up in Richmond neither of us had ever been to the Omni so when my parents agreed to watch the baby for the night, we decided to give it a shot. We couldn't have been happier. Upon arrival we were greeted by energetic valets and bellhops who patiently waited and helped as we gathered a few belongings from our vehicle, no pushiness like I have experienced at other hotels. The check-in process was efficient and the concierge was polite and energetic. When she found out that we were staying there to celebrate our anniversary she gave me a discount rate on the room for the night. Our room was excellently appointed and extremely clean, complete with complimentary terry cloth bathrobes that my wife loved. The hotel staff even sent up a bottle of champagne and a plate of chocolate covered strawberries to help us celebrate our anniversary. The hotel is located right on Cary St within easy walking distance of some of Richmond's best restaurants (The Tobacco Company, Sam Miller's, Sine, The Hardshell, La Grotta, among others) so dinner was simple. My wife and I took our breakfast in the hotel restaurant the next morning and this was also a first rate experience. All in all we were very pleased with our experience and if we find ourselves back in the Richmond area on our anniversary again we will certainly return to the Omni.
