After visiting Richmond's interesting historic sites, my friend and I found Carytown underwhelming. It's simply a street lined with small shops selling clothing (both new and used), decorative items, etc. There are plenty of places to eat. If you're hoping just to while away a bit of time, the area is fine, I suppose, but there's nothing particularly notable about it. It could be any place where there are five or six blocks of shops in a row. We wouldn't return if we were to visit Richmond again.
