The garden is top notch in so many ways. Perfect place to have lunch and walk around to all of the many garden exhibits. I love this place and my wife and I highly recommend this during any season.

“A Bit Pricey but Is Worth It at Christmastime & in the Spring”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

Don't be put off by the admission prices for LG if you're going at certain times of the year, such as the spring or at Christmastime. Christmas is especially worth it because you'll go at night in order to see the thousands of lights strung all over the foliage and the buildings. Go an hour or so before dark to see everything in the waning light, then get set to feel like you're seeing two places for the price of one after dark. The gift shop is one of the top three of Richmond museum gift shops; it's large with high-quality items. There are two restaurants on site and both are lovely, although the Japanese tea house is more expensive with more limited hours. Much of the outside might be navigable by motorized wheelchairs but I'm not sure how well nonmotorized ones would handle the gravel paths. Don't miss the conservatory with all the tropical plants or the small children's area with the treehouse that overlooks the pond. There is free parking in the small LG lot and free parking on the neighborhood streets around LG, but the county in which LG is located doesn't do street lights, so if you do LG at Christmas and you park off site, bring a flashlight.

“A different visit every time”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

LGBG is a treasure in Richmond! Every visit is different since different plants and flowers are in bloom each time. The gift shop is a fantastic place to find unique gifts for family & friends. The conference center is very reasonably priced, comfortable, beautiful, and the catering there for conferences is excellent. The food in the cafe is delicious and well priced. There are great varieties and the atomosphere for casual dining is wonderful. We were disappointed with the experience at the Tea House however....wait for food was VERY long, service was poor and food mediocre and over priced. The cafe is a much better dining experience. We have had family passes over the years and have enjoyed every visit to LGBG.

“Love Families after 5”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

This place is beautiful all year round! Flowers when it's warm and beautiful lights when it's cold.

Kids love to come here for the sprinkler during the summer and for a fun place to hang out in the winter.

The best part of Lewis Ginter is the Families After 5 on Thursdays. A great band playing, and you can just grab a blanket and relax.

“A walk to... well, consider, at least.”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

With the understanding that this was fall, not spring, I was somewhat disappointed by the gardens. The cost is the same year-round it seems and while the place must be dazzling during May, I didn't feel there was enough here to justify the cost.

Visitors can walk through several nice areas, each with nice landscaping. There were a few places that needed better tending. Perhaps volunteers are harder to come by in colder months. The day we showed up it was bright and sunny with a few passing clouds for cover. We enjoyed the variety of roses they had. We did not enjoy the way part of the lawn looked like a septic field due to either a broken pipe or negligence. Still, they had a cool house crafted from vine-like branches and the greenhouse was well-kept.

I would recommend that you leave your kids at home. They are welcome, but are going to be bored. Even the kids-zone looked like it would be dull. Instead, go if you are looking for garden ideas or know a gardening enthusiast who would like to take a nice, slow walk outside while discussing their hobby.
