“Hotel L'Ancora”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

This hotel is very clean but basic. Short walk to beach but everywhere in Santa Teresa is on a hill and the one up from the beach is a killer, but there is free parking at the beach.
Hotel is next to free car park. Very easy to find as all hotels are signposted along the main road. Check in quick, & lift to all floors.
Breakfast was included in the very reasonable room price. There was a lot of sweet things i.e. jam tarts, choc cake, fruit flans, tinned pineapple etc. but there were also fresh croissants, fresh bread, cereals and hard boiled eggs and a wide selection of jams & yogurts. Everything was very fresh. You could purchase salami & cheese for €2. The fruit juice wasn't up to much but the coffee was ok. Bring your own t-bags as the ones the hotel use were to weak for my taste and when you asked for tea for two people you still only got one t-bag. All breakfasts advertised in nearby cafes & bars were for coffee & croissant at €3.5 so our breakfast was very good value if a little unusual.
Room cleaned and beds made every day, towels changed every day. Bed linen changed once in our six night stay. Our beds were very comfortable.
We had a small balcony, big enough for two chairs. There was a washing line & a few pegs handy for drying swimwear.
All rooms have free air conditioning which was very welcome together with fridge, hairdrier and complimentary toiletries. But there wasn't a safe in the room. There is free wifi throughout the hotel which I used to FaceTime family to save on the phone bills.
Very quiet area at night, only a short walk to the central square where a lot of the restaurants are located.
All the staff were very friendly and worked hard.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We were expecting a very basic hotel but very pleasantly surprised by all the added 'extras' such as fridge and air-con in room, slippers, lots of towels, changed everyday, toiletries including toothpaste, shaving kit etc. really nice touches. Above all, so, so clean- the cleaners work really hard here, this hotel is immaculate- one of the cleanest I have ever stayed in.
Staff at breakfast were very pleasant and patient despite our lack of Italian- owner also made an effort to communicate with us in perfect English- again, we appreciated this.
I agree with other previous guests re. the breakfast buffet- fresh bread and fruit would have been excellent, but considering the price was less than an average room only price one cant really complain.
Great location, lots of parking. Will return.

Hotel L'Ancora saved my boyfriend and I from the unusual late spring time rain we experienced while visiting Sardinia. We planned on camping our entire trip, but had a few nights of heavy rain. After asking prices of some other hotels in Santa Teresa, we opted for L'Ancora as it had the best value, 40 EUR for two persons, including breakfast. We were definitely not disappointed in the room. For the price, we were expecting the bare necessities, but we there was air conditioning, satalite TV, a refridgerator, lots of tolietries (toothpaste, toothbrush, razor, shampoo, etc) and even slippers! The staff were also very friendly, and let us leave our bags in the TV/bar area while we went hiking on our last day. My only negative comment is the lack of variety in the breakfast buffet. If you are into sweets for breakfast, it's a gold mine, but it's not really my cup of tea. It consisted heavily of cakes, tarts, sugary cereals and concentrated juice. Some fresh fruit or savory items would be nice. But, overall, a very great stay for a great value. Thanks!

Good hotel with good staff. Not far from the center of the town. Large rooms with a balcony. Good refrigerator in the room. Clean. The only thing that confused me was breakfast. Many sweet cakes and similar stuff and no cheese or ham. The only thing that was not sweet was egg. Overall impression is good. Recommend it!

This hotel is within walking distance from the ferry to Corsica. The owner is a bit serious, but speaks English and Spanish as well. The breakfast was basic and the rooms were basic. It is also within walking distance to the piazza and restaurants in the town. Overall our experience was pleasant.

We went to Sardinia for one week exploring and walking in the northern region of the island (last few days of October 2012).
Hotel L'ancora is ideally placed for day excusions, the room was simple but more than adequate, excellent hot shower. Breakfast was fine but a little repetative; bread, cake, yoghurt, hard boiled egg etc. Cheese and ham was available at a 2euro supplement.
A family run hotel, our host seemed to be always availble, very pleasant, speaking good English.
Santa Teresa had shut for the winter, evening food was a bit of a problem, two pizza takeaways, one very good budget restaurant (2 Palms).
We are serious walkers and did find that there is a serious 'Private No Entry' issue all over the part of the island where we explored. No GR routes or equivalent but innumerable 2 metre high security gates and fences. Perhaps in high season all would be revealed as there are acres of car parking around the beaches.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony, nice view over the town.

We stayed here one night after visiting Corsica. The owners are WONDERFUL kind people! The husband speaks English very well (as well as several other languages). There is wifi in the room and parking was easy to find. The room was spotlessly clean and had a lot of nice little touches such as new toothbrushes and paper slippers. The breakfast was amazing...yogurt, hard boiled eggs, croissants and a sweet table that was nicer than some weddings I have been to! Highly recommended!
