For a hotel that looks as amazing as it does on it's website and charges the rates that it charges staying there was the let down of 2010.
Yes it looks lovely from the outside, the public areas, reception, pool and surrounding gardens are beautiful however the rooms are SHOCKING! I got to see 3 different rooms as we were with a group of 6 and they all look like reconverted backpacker rooms. The finishings are cheap and nasty, the showers are so small you can't bend over to shave your legs. We were there 4 nights and not once did the toiletries get replaced. We had to call for fresh towels. Sometimes we'd come back to the room in the afternoon and the room would not be made up. The bedding was cheap and nasty. There were mosquitos in our room every night. The TV's in all rooms had issues.
If you're not there for the room, fine enjoy the pool area and cocktails (which also didn't taste like cocktails...shouldn't a cosmo taste like a cosmo everywhere?) but for the price you're paying I would expect to sleep in much nicer surroundings. The gym is TINY and not well equipped and doesn't open until 8am.

Stayed at la coluccia for 7 nights from the 28th of may 2010. After a hectic trip where easyjet cancelled flight, then having to travel via paris, total journey taking about 14hrs, the hotel & scenery made it all worth it.
Getting there at about 3am, we were offered a welcome dinner (as they guessed we were starving). The next morning we took in the area after breakfast, I've been to some cool places but this hotel is in the perfect location, beautifully & minimally furnished, lovely pool, private stunning beach.
We did explore the area to discover some beautiful coves, we rented a canoe from the hotel, we went cycling...in short, one of the best vacations I've ever had.
It was my boyfriends birthday, asked for a cake to be made & got a chocolate & cream masterpiece.
The staff where so so helpful, listened to understand and always delivered or explained in detail. From the beach & pool guys to the reception & waiters.
Will definitely be going back. Perfect for a romantic getaway. And the dinners (which was paid for), you get 4 course meals, but sample portions so you get 3 starters, 3 pasta samples, 3 main meals, & my favorite, 3 deserts.
Closest airport is olbia not cagliari as stated on a few websites, and the hotel is about 50mins drive from the airport.

My husband, 1-year-old son and I spent 10 great days at La Coluccia. We enjoyed every moment: Great food, great service from a very friendly staff, and great location. With the baby in bed by 8, thanks to a baby alarm and the dinner set-up made it possible for my husband and I to enjoy 9 consecutive date nights with great food and wine - the baby not even noticing we were gone. The rooms are small but in such a great location no one should need more indoor space than that - we even had our 1-year-old in our room and wouldn't complain. Incredibly patient waiting staff, every day going to great strides to make the entire family happy, and not even making a frown when the -year-old went beserk in the middle of the restaurant area. Always all smiles. It was a very relaxing vacation and We would definetely come back, although now with two small children the rooms would be too small and we would be too muh of a nuisance for the other guests.

Overall a most disappointing stay at this hotel particularly with the evening meal which should be one of the highlights of the day.
This consisted of four courses (more appropriate and honest would be to describe them as four starters/samples rather than courses) and without exaggeration each dish was miniscule. Varieties of vegetables and fruit which are in abundance in the shops appear to be an anathema to the chef. They seem to have overlooked the fact that the hotel is by the sea and guests are more likely to have keener appetites than when at home.
The rooms lack adequate storage space for clothes and are smaller than you would reasonably expect for a supposedly a 4* hotel. The lounge area has only seating for a dozen or so and when it rains, as it did, then guests have to scramble for a seat or spend time in their rooms until the weather improves. Having read other reviews I have to agree entirely with the comments as described in “On the decline” 14 Sept. This establishment requires a lot of improvement and attention in many areas before it can genuinely call itself a 4* hotel

We were supposed to stay in this hotel for our honeymoon. After traveling on two flights and a 45 minute drive, we were given a room that was not what we reserved. The balcony was about big enough for one person to stand on and overlooked a mountain of dirt. When my husband asked for a different room, they would not acommodate our request, and the manager became very rude and started to argue with us. We have been to many places in Italy and have never been treated with such rudeness and disrespect. Good luck if you plan to stay here. My suggestion, stay in Palau at the Hotel Capo D'Orso- which is where we went and spent 5 glorious nights.
