We were a little worried about some of reviews we read on here but after staying at La Coluccia for 8 days in July and we can't recommend it highly enough. The rooms are we agreed a little small but they are kept very clean by the very friendly staff and have everything you need for a restful stay. We had a balcony which overlooked the gardens and it was delightful to sit out after dinner enjoying a nightcap. The main reason to stay at the hotel is the outside space and food. The hotel is situated directly onto the beach, the gardens are beautiful and the pool area pristine! We arrived late afternoon, changed and sat around the pool, we felt immediately relaxed and after a very welcome cocktail brought to our recliners even more so! The food was fantastic, there was a choice of mains or you could just go with the taster menu, we decided that not having to think about what we wanted to eat was just so relaxing, the food was local prepared and cooked beautifully and the sommelier was more than happy to spend time advising and discussing the extensive local wine list. We had a fantastic stay and feel some of the reviews are very harsh, don't be put off you don't know what you are missing!

We stayed for a week at this property right on the beach - it has a pristine garden with large pines - this is how serenity could look like (we were there before the tourist season, in early June). Room was nice and we had half-board - the dinner featured food stuff from the island - was a great experience.

We spent fantastic days at La Coluccia. Frankly, I do not understand the negative comments in some of the previous reviews. We had a very warm late night welcome and felt at home straight away. We liked the design of the hotel and the rooms very much. The staff is very friendly and creates a very personal and relaxed atmosphere. We liked the food - both the fantastic seafood barbecue for lunch and the well prepared tasting menu for dinner (it is always possible to go for alternative dishes). Good wine selection - wines were served at the right temperature. Nice beach and park area. We were sad to leave after three days because Is Arenas was on our travel agenda - another very nice Philosophy hotel to visit. We hope to be back in Sardinia soon again and La Coluccia will definitely be on our itinirary. Our only comment would be to better sign post the hotel - it is hard to find at night.

remote and beautiful location, but you need to hire a car to get out and about.
Staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble for them.
Food and wine selections were extensive but the first room was small and cramped with a strange setup of the shower in the middle of the room, however,we were moved with no problem at all to a larger room at no extra charge.
very friendly hotel.

Room Tip: do not go for room above bar with sea view .. premier room is not much better than basic room ,, only difference is the view!

Having read reports from September and October of 2010 I was really aprehensive having booked the hotel but we couldn't have asked for better. The rooms are fairly spacious and the fact that the shower is in the room its quirky (we didn't notice a smell at all). Lots of storage space in the wardrobes and although we had a juliet balcony the view into the garden was lovely. Gardens and swimming pool area looked good, neat and tidy, amazing views down to the sea and close by islands. Service in the restaurant both at breakfast and dinner was attentive, by our third morning they remembered what each of the four of us drank at breakfast and that we wanted olive oil and balsamic vinegar with our bread at dinner and who had still or sparkling water. The dinner menu had some really good local ingredients and we enjoyed the fact that we could have small portions of everything to try although we were advised that we could just pick individual dishes if we wished to. Sardinia wine is really nice too. Whilst the hotel can be said to be remote we hired a car from the airport and found it really easy to get around. We also hired a speed boat from the beach at the bottom of the hotel grounds and spent a day travelling round some of the islands and snorkeling. The gym is situated in the basement and is well equiped and right next to it is a really nice chill out area that serves the treatment rooms and a great steam room

Hotel staff were friendly and attentive at all times but not pushy. All in all a great place to stay and a hotel I would definitley go back too. I can't recommend it enough.

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview or garden room (we had No. 35)
