I was planning to stay for 1 week in Sardinia with my friend w/o renting a car therefore I chose Santa Teresa di Gallura as an ideal starting point for trips to Corsica (Bonifaccio) and Maddalena islands. By chance I saw some great reviews of Hotel Moderno but remained more than skeptical about it. However, the price was very attractive and I decided to book it - and hope for the best. The stay exceeded all my expectations: the hotel was extreamly clean and cosy, having traditional Sardinian decor and an excellent location. The owners were more than friendly, attentive and helpful. Breakfasts were abundant (from Italian point of view), coffee was really good (very important for me) - and if you manage to get up early, you'll be able to find hot/warm pastry served specially for you :) All in all, Hotel Moderno appeared to be one of the best B&B hotels I've seen in Italy (I travelled over the country quite a lot both as a tourist and for business) - and an ideal place either for a short break during you trip over the northern part of the island or for a longer stay aimed at indulging the beach (which was also very good, though a bit crowdy) mixed with short trips over the splendid Sardinian coast.

Very good hotel with very hospitable owners and staff!
The room was clean, with Sardinian furniture and decors.
Hotel location is perfect for those who prefer to stay mostly at the beach, which is just 5 min walk and for those who would like to see the north of the island.
Beach near the hotel called Rena Bianca is very beautiful.
There are lots of restaurants close to the hotel.
Hotel is a nice place to stay, we will recommend this without doubts to make a reservation there to our friends and will definitely come again!

I walked in off the street fresh from the Corsica ferry, worried a 3-star hotel might stretch our budget, and my worries were instantly put to rest. The price was well within our range and featured an ample breakfast including the 2 double espressos it takes to crank-start me in the mornings. The room was light, airy, clean and comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The owner and staff were exceptional friendly without being intrusive, graciously helpful, always ready to share a joke or do that extra bit for us. We stayed a third night just because we enjoyed it so much, and felt sad to leave.
Santa Teresa is in a good location for hiking or touring northern Sardinia, and the Hotel Moderno is close to all the amenities. I'd return any time and recommend it wholeheartedly.

Room Tip: Our room had a balcony looking on to a quiet street.

The people that run this lovely B&B really set the place apart from the other spots in town. There was a mix-up with the car we had pre-booked from London--our pre-paid taxi that was to take us back to Olbia airport was somehow very late. The woman at the front desk stepped in and sorted everything for us, negoiating a quick taxi from a nearby town so that we did not miss our flight. As we got into our saviour taxi to leave, the owner rushed out with a cold bottle of water for us for the hour-long journey to the airport. It was such a kind gesture, and speaks volumes to the kind of treament you will get here.

The hotel itself is extremely clean with beautiful Sardinian touches. The rooms are simple, bright and lovely, and many come with a balcony. And the air conditioning is a plus.

The town centre is lively and casual, just a few steps from the hotel. It'a a sweet little beach town really--not one status car or £10,000 handbag in sight! Perfect place to relax, with nice food and wine in a casual environment. Gorgeous town beach as well, and some nice walks along a ridge where you can watch the sun set and gaze at Corsica. Wish we could have stayed longer.

If the owners are reading this--thank you!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony.

We stayed 3 nights and found this hotel very well located in the town. So near to all the restaurants and no problems in parking. The rooms are spacious and quiet. Breakfasts are good with a variety. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Free coffee provided in the evenings. In all a very good hotel in a good location to explore the beaches and coasts of the northern area of Sardinia.

My boyfriend and I just came back from 1 week holiday in Sardinia. We rented a car and just drove by all amazing beaches and cute small towns in the north region of the island. We finally arrived to Santa Gallura di Teresa where we planned to stay only 1 night and by luck saw the Hotel Moderno so we decided to try it out for one night. As soon as we got in we were very warmly welcomed by Laura who works at the reception. She, the owner Fiorella and the other colleagues gave us so many great advices on what to visit, where to eat and so much more. The B&B was very centrally located, with fantastic service and beautiful rooms for an extremely low price. Even the breakfasts were excellent with home-made cakes or pastries from a typical sardinian patisserie.
In the end we stayed there 5 nights! Also because Santa Teresa is strategically located on the top east of the island, very close to many great touristic spots (Costa Smeralda, Archipelago de la Maddalena etc).
These 5 days we felt like home at Hotel Moderno and we definitely recommend you to stay there. Just follow all their good advices and be amazed by the treasures of Sardinia.
Another great treat is that the B&B collaborates with many local restaurants, bars, diving clubs etc so you will get a 10% discount wherever you go just by mentioning that you are staying at Hotel Moderno!
We are 100% sure to return to Moderno on our next trip to Sardinia.

Room Tip: we stayed on the 2nd floor room and we had a nice balcony. Ask for a room with a balcony.

A lovely comfortable and friendly hotel. Very pleasant interior decoration. Very friendly owners. Not much English spoken, but can hardly quibble about that. Would definitely stay again.
