Went here this past weekend and sat outside on the patio, which was really nice and relaxed. Service was a little on the slow side, but we weren't in a rush so we still really enjoyed ourselves. Had a couple of beers, oysters and blackened shrimp for our apps. The food is my favorite thing about Cobblestones; I've never had anything bad here and in fact I've absolutely loved everything I've tried here, ever. In my opinion, it is overpriced for Lowell to the point of being a tiny bit pretentious, but I guess if they keep making the food so delicious I will keep paying for it!

We've eaten here before as a couple, but never as a large group and never immediately after a high school graduation held in the nearby Tsongas Arena. There wasn't an empty seat in the dining room and all the parties had arrived at the same time. But our service was attentive, timely, polite, and patient (with elderly patrons and allergy restrictions, too). The courses came out in the proper pace, the food was hot, and the meals delicious. At our table, the meals ran the gamut between burgers, vegetarian specials, scallops and pork tacos. Desserts were especially good - try the caramel brownie thing with vanilla ice cream. And don't share it because you will want your own! Parking didn't initially seem easy, but we soon found a street spot nearby.

Went for a business dinner at this interesting downtown Lowell, MA eatery (see history in last parapgraph). There is a bar area with flat panel if you want to hang out and drink or just dine solo. If you have a companion and time, there is a nice dining room with linen covered tables and some finer decor. For dinner this evening, I had the chicken marsala which is prepared nicely over a bed of fresh pasta accompanied by a glass of pinot noir. I was quite content with the meal. My colleague had the north atlantic salmon which comes with roasted garlic-sweet pepper quinoa, asparagus, charred green onion vinaigrette and added some garlic mashed - also very pleased with the quality and taste. They've been in business for 20 years - good food and service is what it's all about.

If you want more history, one of the servers gave us the scoop - the building was built somewhere around 1855-1859. It was originally believed to be the Merrimack Manufacturing Company. In 1882, it became the Yorick Gentlemen’s Club - that lasted for 78 years. It became a restaurant in 1978 and was purchased by it's current owners in 1994. It is within walking distance to The Paul E Tsongas Arena, The Lowell Memorial Auditorium, The Merrimack Repertory Theater, Boardinghouse Park and The American Textile History Museum and The National Park Visitors Center.

This charming Inn, restaurant and bar is a hidden treasure indeed. They food is wonderful and never a disappointment. Their mushroom flatbread is delicious and the Chicken Marcela one of the best I've ever had with really good mashed potatoes. The prices are much less than what you'd find in the greater Boston area. We go there often.

The chili and clam chowder were good, the mixed greens were good but many leaves were wilted, the main courses were good but were served just as we started eating the salad, the steak had to be returned to be cooked because we ordered it medium-rare and it was rare, and the bread was stale. The restaurant needs a manager to provide oversight to the kitchen and staff. We wouldn't go back.
