The hotel had the best decor, professional service and the view out of all the places we stayed in Sardinia. Unfortunately all this was badly let down by the most important equipment during the summer - air conditioning.

Pros:
- The view from the hotel's pool area is spectacular. Amazing view of the sea and contrasting mountain on the other side. It is well worth staying here for this view alone!
- The Reception staff are very helpful and friendly. They were very happy to provide information around Cala Gonone.
- The room and the bathroom was well decorated to a good standard. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was on par with 4 start hotels in other part of the world. In fact the windowed entrance to the balcony was so good, I would happily have the same in our house.
- Breakfast was standard affair bit slightly better quality then other accommodations (e.g. local yoghurt rather then mass manufactured ones). However the best thing about the breakfast here is the amazing view out of the terrace whilst having breakfast!
- The hotel will lend out beach equipment such as umbrella and beach towels free of charge.
- There are many choice of restaurants in the Cala Gonone marina, less then 5 min on the car.

Cons:
- As already mentioned the air con was non existent. This made our stay uncomfortable as sweating away in the room at middle of the night wasn't pleasant.
- The walk back from the town was a bit of an exercise - imagine 20 min hill climb after a full dinner. You would have to be fit and healthy to manage this climb and certainly wouldn't recommend it for anyone with health problem
- Although the sound proofing was better then other accommodations in sardinia, it still wasn't exactly good.
- Cala Gonone doesn't have the best beach - it is rather shingly and not near the hotel. You would have to travel on a boat (15-30 EUR/person) to various nearby beaches. It becomes rather expensive if you did this every day.
- The prestige room only has partial side view of the sea and completely misses out the amazing view of the contrasting mountain and sea view. Bit of a poor value given the price of the accommodation.

Overall its an decent hotel, especially if you are only staying for a couple of days. For us, its not a resort I would goto for more then a couple of days.

From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave the staff go beyond all reasonable expectations to make sure you enjoy your stay. Information on hotels, on beaches to visit. Beach towels and sunshade umbrellas provided. (Get that - they have a stock if sunshades you can take to the beach, no-one counts them in or out - all done on trust).
We made sure we had a room with a sea view - though you couldn't see it from the bed which was the only let-down.
Breakfasts were great, outside and inside spaces to have breakfast. They do serve evening meals but don't push you to eat there (if anything the reverse).
There is a great swimming pool, and someone to bring you drinks as you lounge by the pool!
The hotel is a little way out of town, and it is quite a steep hill. We had our car (parking is easy) so it wasn't an issue - but I wouldn't want to be there without a car, it is also essential to get to the beaches. (Unless you take a boat ride from town - but then you are back to walking up the hill!)

Room Tip: Geat a sea view

We chose the hotel because of TripAdvisor recommenadations and it exceeded them. It has a marvellous location, quietly set above the simple town, with views so splendid that one was reluctant to leave it. The staff are charming and helpful. The sea and beaches nearby are wonderful- especially Cala Luna. A small hotel that could not be bettered for a peaceful summer holiday.

Location, Location - This hotel is located up on the hill from town - so as a pro - you have beautiful views, free parking and they have a great pool. As a con - you must drive into town to shops, port and resturant and parking can be difficult. The rooms are a decent size by European standards but the air conditioning does not work well - we asked that it be looked at - and there was no change. The breakfast is OK - nothing great but sufficient. We had a nice balcony facing the gulf but note that the balconies are shared (there is a small bush that separates each) but for the most part you can see others on their balconies as well as in their rooms. The staff was very nice and helpful. They provide you with beach towels and umbrellas and chairs for the beach. There is also a restaurant at the hotel for dinner but we never ate there. One minor annoyance - if you do not like the smell of bleach beware of their bath towels - they obviously bleach them to keep them white but they smell horrendous. All in all, OK stay - but the A/C was really a problem for us and unfortunately was not rectified. At $300 a night - we expect a room that gets cooler than 80 degrees (we had a thermometer).

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room facing the gulf. I believe all rooms have balconies but some face up t...

My husband and I stayed here for our summer holiday. It is a lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, especially Lucia, the young lady working at reception. The rooms are big and very clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. Only thing is this hotel is on the edge of Cala Gonone, so it's not in the centre of town. We liked it as it's very quite and peaceful and we had a car. But if you don't have a car it is a 15 min walk (down hill into town) and 20 min walk (uphill back to hotel). Overall, we think it's a gem and would definitely go back!

Staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms were very clean, the size was OK. We had a room with partly seaview, the rooms facing the front is probably bigger (but more expensive). The pool area was very nice. Breakfast was good. We had dinner twice and the food was excellent and not particularly expensive. You need a car, it's a rather long and steep walk to the beaches and restaurants in Cala Gonone. Only minus was that they had double charged some of the items from our restaurant meals. That was corrrected when we paid the final bill but I guess you should always be careful...

We stayed for a week during our summer holiday. It was booked through Hotels.com and apart from two minor things, the hotel was new and nice.
1) The location on their map wasn't correct. The hotel is far uphill from Cala Gonone restaurants and beach. The reception told us to use the car during the day because of the heat! Late evenings it was a 15 minutes walk UP.
2) While booking we were promised "a gift upon arrival". We didn't receive a gift - but our room was upgraded with balcony/garden and sea view! Because of this we didn't mention the absent "gift upon arrival" :-)
