The basement is somewhat of a cul-de-sac with no air flow at the far end so felt stuffy in spite of the air conditioning. There was provision for a hob in the original fitting although one was not fitted. It seems there is an option for an induction hob at €10 per day. Given the lack of ventilation, cooking smells might have been hard to remove.
They provided cooking utensils, ladles etc, but no cooking pans. They also provided one of the smallest microwave / grill combinations we had ever seen which did not lend itself to much in the way of cooking. An electric kettle would have been very useful - we were able to boil water in the microwave.
What really spoilt things for us was the smell from the drains every time we had a shower or used the toilet. They had about 3 different electric air fresheners and some wick based fresheners but the combination of smells was rather disagreeable.
Given the extras, it looks like the owner has a strategy of offering a low basic and making up on the additions.
