The rooms are a bit old fashioned but that's ok. Breakfast is good and they bring refills of coffee. There is lots of easy parking outside.Arbatax is not very pleasant consisting mainly of a ship repair yard and a large industrial estate. It is not a place for people seeking beach holidays. Because there is a lot of commerce there are guests staying one or two nights. I chose this hotel as it was a base for doing the Cala Goloritze walk. However a second time I would chose Baunei as it is very near the start to the walk. Baunei is not wonderful itself but definitely better than Arbatax. To find your way to Il Vecchio Mulino, go along the main road but veer right before you reach the unmarked level crossing then turn right a few yards up. If you cross the rail tracks you have gone too far, but you are still very near.Would I stay there again-possibly if it were in a different location! They will advise the restaurant Da Capo and say mention their name. We did this. The service was fine, the food ok but expensive as throughout Sardinia. There was no "special deal" however. We were offered some "mirto" at the end but didn't want any - maybe this was the freebee.

We booked based on trip advisor reviews and of course the price (off season). The place was a delight in that the property was lovely, nice landscaping and had people there! Even though it was off season, the place was either full or close to full. We had a nice room that was very clean and we enjoyed fast and easy to use wifi. We also slept well and enjoyed a small shower that actually had a door that closed completely. But the highlight to the stay was the wonderful breakfast that spotlighted home cooked breakfast cakes and fresh fruit. Coffees were delicious and all was bountiful.

The place is just into town on the norht end and is in a residential seciton. It was easy to find.

We also enjoyed driving and walking around town and found a lovely watch tower just south of town as well as the marina to the north that would seem to have some fun night life. The hotel did recommend a restaurant De Copa which also was very good and we enjoyed a good meal there, but alas were the only people in the place (again off season).

We very much enjoyed our stay. The hotel is small but very pretty, with beautiful vegetation (olives, palms, a variety of flowers etc). The hotel public areas are well appointed. Beaches are a few minutes away (walkable). We recommend the beaches of ORRI and CEA which a reachable by car (15 minutes away)

Room tip: Very nice.... will be coming back!

The room was large, spotlessly clean and well provided with everything you could want. The staff are friendly and helpful - and speak excellent English! Breakfast was delicious. The hotel is in a quiet area and was a perfect place for a restful break. There's a small beach less than ten minutes walk away, though I generally took the time to drive a few minutes away to Orri where the beach is large and ideal for swimming and sunbathing, and has bars and other facilities.

Vecchio Mulino is a charming hotel of very high standard - 3 friends in the one room not a problem space wise.
The rooms are airy and clean and have Air Con/TV/Small fridge/hair dryer etc.
It is a fact that there are no screens on the windows but with the air con on low and the standard plug in insect repellant supplied we had no problems at all with unwanted visitors.
This hotel its true is just a little off the beaten track, but there is a bus that runs past the end of the road to and from Tortoli (Where the major facilities are). There is a supermarket within a 3 minute walk plus a Pizzeria. A 15 minute walk in the opposite direction takes you down to the beach and 4 restaurants of a very acceptable standard.
Breakfasts were plentiful and varied and the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Madge, Edna & Beryl.

Room tip: Room 208 (double) on the 2nd floor opens out on to a lovely patio area.
