Everythings's great. Additional training for legs. Food was reasonably good. Sea's great - clean and clear. But... To the end of our jorney arrived too many Russians. What else... The port is nearby. We've had jorney to Rome on it.

Room Tip: Not to close to the beach.

We arrived at Arbatax Park noot knowing quite what to expect. There are a number of different hotels within the park, which is a private peninsula, the room we had booked was one of the cottages. After the normal italian chaos with a transfer coach arriving, the Cottage manager showed us to the individual reception for those rooms. The Cottges have a quiet swimming pool with a restriction on children under 12, so it is very civilised. A superior room, such as the one we stayed in is generously proprtioned and air conditioned. It is very close to the pool and the small beaches at the end of the peninsula. The restaurant allocated in the package is good, serving italian menus from a buffet that is relatively uncrowded.
The park offers several attractions like its wildlife park walk with a knowledgeable multilingual guide. There are sporting activities if you wish to pursue them and evening entertainment in the park's amphitheatre, put on by the enthusiastic animation team, sometimes augmented by their park colleagues.
There are several bars for guests to use and payment by prepaid chip card for those on tariffs that do not include drinks. The surrounding countryside and coastline is easily acceccible on foot, or by local bus.

Room Tip: The Cottage rooms may not suit families with young children

Our group was made of four people. None of us are fussy though we found all our judgements to be aligned. We arrived by train in Arbatax, happy about a great scenic ride, and the Hotel web site says 200 meters from the station so we decided to walk. Realistically its about a mile (+/-1,5 km), under a burning sun, with poor directions, with luggage... . You can check that on Wikimapia if you wish. The check-in counter was in total chaos at our arrival, they could not find our payments. We had to stand since all lounge chairs were occupied, and took about 1/2 hour to get our keys. We found the rooms to have a strong raw smell... like swet, and to be relatively dirty, the towels did not smell as just washed, tile floor was dirty and marked so was the closet. Lifted the bed sheets and the mattress is all "marked". Total lack of maintenance; the ceiling fans are old and quite noisy, could do with some lubrication. The shower door had un-removed silicon on the bottom, once transparent, now dirty black. The cold water tap did not close properly, I used some force but no chance, so had water running all night, very cheap plastic toilette seat was broken on one hinge. TV signal comes and goes so watching anything is impossible, TV was dusty, wires hanging all over the wall, the antenna was simply leaned on top of the TV without any support. We ate dinner at the buffet restaurant which has tables set in a round room - ALL FAKE - plasticky food - of awful quality, nothing was Sardinian, not even the bread. The food in any company's canteen is far superior in terms of quality and presentation. Breakfast was even worse, croissants and cakes were made of cardboard. At 8,30 all drinks were finished accept for water. The staff tries to do what they can but no chance. A "plastic" pizza for lunch costs 28 Euro, but its dual purpose Pizza and Fresbee. Anyhow, we decided to leave asap, but we wanted to tour the resort first. The animal park: a lager! These poor animals are kept in awful conditions for any standard, even for slaughtering. I took pictures on purpose and will send them to all the Wildlife protection agencies and ONG's I know. I took personnel 50 minutes to find us a vehicle to bring us out of there, after which we took a cab to the train station (10 buks). In general, it is obvious that the owner does not work in his hotels, nor does he care about them. It's equivalent an average cheap hotel in a 3rd world nation. Too bad, because the place is awesome. One thing I can say is we ate incredibly well at a small restaurant in Arbatax port called "Sapore di Mare"... owner is a pro', payed 18 Euro per person without wine. PS. I tried repeatedly without success to attach a picture below of a wild Bore desperately looking for shade.

Room Tip: Don't be Fooled; Go Elsewhere!

Dear Joe,
we are truly sorry for the problems you went through during your stay. We have to clarify first that our website does not say that the station is 200 meters from the resort. Actually, there is no information about the train station at all. Regarding the problems in your room we would like to know if you informed the reception about them, usually for our guests who complain about some problems in the room we tend to do everything in our power to solve them and to satisfy their needs. We are sorry to hear that you didn't appreciated the food served in our restaurants, we try to offer variety and quality at the same time as most of our guests are not Italian. To let them taste our traditional sardinian dishes every thursday we organize the typical "Sardinian Dinner" in each and every one of the restaurants of the resort.

Most of all we would like to make some clarifications about our Bellavista Natural Park. Animals live free in a 40 hectares area of typical Sardinian flora and fauna where it's normal that some of them sometimes get injured, as happens in nature. For this reason here you can find also a nursery area, where newborn animals stay with their mothers and where injured animals are taken care of by our veterinaries.

Thank you for letting us and the Tripadvisor community know about your experience.

Kind regards

Beautiful setting ,but we should have been informed that we were the first guests of the year. Instead of the choice of bars and restaurants promised in the brochure, there was 1 bar (open to the elements) so unusable when raining, and 1 restaurant. No facilities in the room for making coffee or tea and no fridge, so ,if cold drinks had been available....we had nowhere to keep them.
The shop was open, but had only pottery and lilo's .When we asked why, we were told that they hadn't stocked it yet !!!The daily boat trips to a large adjacent bay didn't happen....one coach that went on Wednesday and dumped everyone on a deserted beach with NO facilities at all.
The cottages were damp and cold and in great need of modernising.
All in all a thoroughly miserable break which we would NEVER repeat, and which the lovely staff could not appologise enough for. BE CAREFUL !

Room Tip: Don't think it makes any difference

Dear Pamlily,

we are truly sorry to hear that you went through some bothers due some technical problems, which are normal when an hotel is opening for a new season. We apologize for it. We would like to clarify that every single room has a fridge in it. Usually it's inside one of the closets, maybe there is a chance that you didn't notice it.
Thank you for your contribution. We take very seriously our guests feedbacks in order to improve our services.

Kind regards.

I stayed at Arbatax Park Telis for one week in the end of July-beginning of August 2013. I have to say, it was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. We had paid for a family room, but when we opened the door we understood directly that this wasn't a family room. So we went to the reception to complain, but it took almost 4 hours before they could find someone that we could talk to. Anyway, we got a family room, but it smelled like mold and we couldn't open the windows because of a stone wall.

The resort was BIG, and it consisted of four pool areas and a beach. If you don't have all inclusive, you'll have to pay 4(!) EUR for a 33cl Coke! If you don't want all inclusive, you can walk 1 kilometer to the little town to find a supermarket with regular prices. You will not get any information about in the reception.

We were almost the only ones not coming from Russia or Italy, and the employees spoke better Russian than English.

Room Tip: Don't stay in Telis, choose one of the other areas.

Julia K., Moscow, Russia. And it's amazing how the hotel staff could remain so genuinely friendly and energetic, if I work hard .. The animation team from morning till night entertains tourists, and barmen from morning till night, rescue them from thirst ..)) Thank you for that! Special thanks to Rafael animators and Pucho! (The animation team worked very professionally and intensely tight!) Very special thanks to the bartenders: Loris and Michele!
How do you find so much patience to be polite gentlemen in dealing with drunk women who behaved rudely frank and unleashed .. (I watched this one a blonde lady at the bar "La Palma" and the second at the disco bar "Bellavista") Personally, I would seal the mouth with duct tape that rude unpleasant "anti-ladies' ..
Special special thanks to Loris - barman at the bar "La Palma" and the disco-bar "Bellavista"! (when he was asleep? .. - a whole day at the beach bar and night until 2 am in the disco .. it is very hard ..) for their help in saving my friend from the effects of jellyfish stings; thanks for great coffee, delicious cocktails (green jamaica - the best!)), for the perfect choice of music for the bar and just a sunny smile and friendly attitude!
Thanks also to Maria - barman at the bar in the central pool.. («uno cappuccino e due spumante»!;))
Hasan a big thank you for massage - excellent professional strong hands!
Thanks for a great singer-baritone for live music in the evenings!
Thanks to Alina (reception manager) and our guide from "Pegasus" Igor for help.))
And special thanks for the park with animals and ducks - for such an affordable communication with them :) - it is pure joy of children! :))))
Thank you guys! Thank you all for my fantastic vacation in Sardinia! You seem stuck in my new solar batteries! I will definitely be back again and again and again! Sardinia - the perfect place to feel the energy of life!

This is without doubt one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed at. knowing I would be 6 months pregnant on arrival we tried to call ahead and make them aware but sadly we could not speak to anyone who spoke English.

On arrival we were told to drive our car over 100m where we would be met with our cases... 10mins later we walked back to reception with our cases in 30+ degree heat... Not a good start at all. We were not told times of breakfast or dinner or given any information whatsoever about the resort.

Rooms- We were driven 10mins away from our car to a horrible, tiny room- the window opened out straight onto a hill. We complained and were moved to a new room the following day (after arguing with several receptionists who couldn't care less) to a room that had broken air conditioning and smelled like raw sewage- after yet more arguing someone came to fix it only for it to break again... Then more arguing and eventually it was fixed properly. Beds are uncomfortable- an inflatable mattress would have been more comfortable. the entire resort must be over 30 years old and nothing has been updated. Even the towels you are provided with are thin and rough. The hairdryer provided in the room is useless and ancient - your hair will dry quicker naturally! One thing we will say is the rooms are clean and the cleaning ladies work very hard.

Restaurant- The food is awful, inedible and not a reflection of Sardinian food, on the first night we were told we would have to share a table, we waited till we had a table alone only to find the food had run out, second night was the same so we ventured out as we were starving!! we found a lovely restaurant 5mins drive away (sapor de mare) where we ate every night for around €60 euros (for 3 of us, eating really lovely, good food, including drinks) breakfast was also awful- by the Third day fruit had run out and we were down to apples and oranges- all bruised or mouldy... Food always runs out!! Again we chose to leave the resort and go to the local supermarket and buy fruit, water and snacks (you will get ripped off in the hotel shop, if it is open!).

Chip card- On arrival you are told the resort is cash less and you have to put money on a 'chip card' so we put €100 on as we were half board- we found that only the bar accepted the chip card- the ice cream stand, shop and reception only take cash!!

Towels- you have to pay a deposit of €10 per towel which is pretty standard, in addition you have to pay €2 every time you want them changed- not so standard and just a complete rip off.

Gym- the 'gym' is a few 30 year old machines outside in the hot sun- it is simply a joke. There is no fitness centre that is safe or useable.

Beaches- the main beach is horrible, overcrowded and dirty with loud music playing- if you head towards the cottages there are small beaches that are deserted and beautiful but no shade so you can only stay a short time.

Pools- the main and tropical pool are filthy and the smell of chlorine is unbearable- we did not let our son swim in them as we feared he would catch something.

The resort is set on a steep hill, the car park is at the top, rooms in the middle and beaches at the bottom - you are effectively trapped most of the day as it is too hot to walk up and down. Unless you are 100% fighting fit this resort is awful- there is a bus service but they are infrequent and to be honest I do not expect to be waiting at a bus stop on holiday.

If you have booked this hotel do not come, try to get a refund- the staff are rude, the food is awful and the only way you will enjoy your stay is by going out of the resort everyday incurring additional expense. The claim that this is a 4* hotel is laughable- their website completely mis sells the resort. This was our last holiday before we have a baby and I can safely say it was ruined by the constant battle to eat and avoid stress... If you do decide to go make sure you have a car and a lot of patience and the number of your flight operator as you will want to leave early!
