SolArt Rooms & Breakfast
Ranked #30 of 73 Trani B&B and Inns
Reviewed July 18, 2010

We stayed 4 nights in Bed and Breakfast Solar in Trani. The place looks great and is on one of the main streets in Trani. We stayed in the 70's room, it's a nice colorful room whit a great bed! The room has airconditioning and looked out on a small square. At night it was very calm. The breakfast was in a nearby bar. It wasn't hard to find, there is a small map n the B&B with the route to the bar. Breakfast in the bar was well arranged, you could get coffee or tea and a cornetto. We als ordered fresh juice every morning but for this you have to pay extra! The owner of the B&B we've only seen at arrival and departure. Trani is beautiful and has lots of restaurants and bars.

Trani is a beautiful, largely unspoiled Adriatic fishing port, and this B&B is in the centre of it. We stayed in the '70s room, because we both share a strange nostalgia for that period of orange and purple shag pile carpets, flared trousers and brown striped kipper ties. The 70's room captures the era perfectly. The accommodation is comfortable, the air conditioning a nice touch - and essential if you plan to stay here in the summer months. We were also shown the other rooms, each of which has a distinctive style - something for almost every taste. Trani itself is a wonderful town. Plenty of places to sit and people-watch. Lots of cafes with sun-lit terraces to while away the morning. The sea wasn't quite warm enough to tempt us in. But we'll be back soon for a longer stay. A nice touch is the solar heating - so no offsetting anxiety if you had to fly here. Highly recommended.

Solar provides an average sized room, comfortable bed and effective bathroom, though if you don't like lime green walls you should stay away from the room at the end of the corridor. Avoid also if you have heavy luggage because the four flight of stairs are no joke. Parking is easy as is access to lovely old Trani, its cathedral and its harbour. The only blemishes were: access to the internet was intermittent (only available when the router was turned on); TV reception was poor with no English channels; and the cafe at which we took breakfast was annoyingly difficult to find (get clear instructions because it is off not on the main square and its name is difficult to read). However, the quality of the cornetto was second to none and coffee a cut or three above the average.

A delightful apartment with a superb location in old town Trani for the four of us.( two couples). It was but a short walk to the Harbor with it's multitude of charming restaurants. The B&B has retained it's old world charm but has added color and a wide variety of ecletic furnishings along with the modern convences. Breakfast at the nearby cafe with the B&B voucher was delicious with the best coffee in three weeks in Italy and a world class opportunity for people watching.

We stayed for a few nights at this centrally-located and suave B&B.

The B&B is situated in the more historically interesting part of Trani and is a few minutes walk from the castle, the harbour and the main shopping areas.

The rooms were very well appointed with modern air conditioners and the bathrooms were fitted out to a very high standard.

We enjoyed our stay very much and are looking forward to going back there in the spring.

We stayed one night in Trani. While they had messed up our reservation, they eventually arranged for one of their rooms for us. This meant that we had to enjoy ourselves for a couple of hours in Trani, while they had a cleaner come over.

The room was quite large with small kitchen facilities and tastefully decorated (though with only IKEA furniture). Breakfast was served in a nearby restaurant (5-10 minutes), which was very good. The main drawback during our stay was that the only way to keep the room cool during the night was through a rather strong air-conditioning system. Since the rooms are located on the front side of the apartment with a lot of noise during the whole night of cars passing by, there was no opportunity to open a window.

The bed and breakfast remains expensive (80 euros) for the region. Furthermore it was difficult to find the place and parking was limited.

This is a smart place (newly refurbished to a good standard, bathrooms sparkling & a/c was appreciated) with a great friendly welcome. Everything was clean & fresh; only a couple of minutes walk from the harbour. They give you a voucher for breakfast in a restaurant across the road but that works out well. Trani is a cool place - love the posing on Friday/Saturday nights!
