I stayed here during a parents weekend for MIT. If you are doing business at MIT, the location is terrific. It's okay, location wise, if you have to visit Boston University. Otherwise, I can't imagine why it would be of interest to anyone else. It's a standard issue hotel, with smallish, out of date rooms, and indifferent service. The restaurant is nothing special, and neither is the bar. (Don't be fooled--the place looks much better in the pictures on the website.) I stayed here on Hyatt points so I didn't mind because it was essentially free. But, as I said, it's great for visiting MIT and so despite my comments, I might stay here again just for that reason.

Staff was friendly, rates were good for busy summer time.
Hotel has shuttle to Harvard Square station making it convinient to move around and enjoy the city.

Rooms where comfy, clean and have a great view of the river

I have mixed feelings about this hotel but overall, I can't give it more than 3 stars (3 1/2 would be ok). Let's start with the good: the hotel itself has nice public areas, the service at the restaurant was great, and my room was very spacious and clean although it felt a bit 80s' style. I had breakfast at the hotel each morning and the food was great, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Just a tip - the buffet does offer more variety but is more expensive than ordering a la carte, so if you are happy with eggs/bacon/home fries and toast, just order that from the menu instead of paying more for the buffet. I really liked how the rooms had a separate dressing area near the bathroom, great for privacy and you can really spread out your stuff.
On the downside - the location of the hotel is really not ideal, except for joggers since it's right on the river and people visiting MIT. Even as someone who knows Boston well, I found it a pain to get around from here. The shuttle is a nice service, but we ended up taking cabs a lot when we weren't going to Harvard Square. There is also not much in the neighborhood within walking distance so you really have to use cabs or the shuttle for everything you want to do, which gets a bit annoying. It's a good 20+ minute walk to Central Sq from the hotel, which isn't that nice when the weather is bad. Also, my reservation was for a king bed but the room had a bed that was barely even queen-sized. Ok, not the end of the world, but I found it odd that everything on my bill, confirmation etc, said king and the bed was definitely nowhere near king-sized. The check-in kiosk also printed out a more expensive rate than my confirmation, which the hotel fixed, but it was a mild annoyance that I had to go get that sorted out. Finally while the hotel is touted for its views of Boston, most areas of the hotel and many rooms have rather boring views of surrounding buildings and the gym/parking lot.
Overall, the hotel is a nice, comfortable full-service hotel but because of the inconvenient location I can't rate it higher. Even with a good room rate, you end up spending money on cabs and I would have liked a few more dining options within walking distance. If you don't mind dealing with the shuttle or prefer the quieter location away from downtown, it's fine.
Zipcar members - on the plus side, there are plenty of Zipcars around which is really convenient if you plan to do any day trips outside the city!

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. It's in Cambridge, closer to MIT than Harvard, but in close proximity to Central Square as well as a small commercial area with a Starbucks, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Rite Aid.

Our room is pretty large, with a separate work area near the bathroom which allowed me to write this review as my daughter slept. The beds are very comfortable. The room design is pretty nice - modern with huge windows and probably the largest TV I've encounted in a hotel room.

There's a big lap pool for swimming and a large fitness room with I'd guess 12-15 cardio machines and some weight equipment.

The bar is nice and overlooks the river.

Parking is easy, and they offer a AAA discount for guests. There is also a shuttle to Harvard Square, since one drawback of this property is that it is not convenient to public transportation.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the atrium - quieter stay

We stayed here for graduation. Of course the prices were jacked up--that's how it's done is college towns. I was surprised at how small the rooms were. The staff was friendly although the front desk staff seemed overwhelmed (with the exception of the front desk mgr. who was excellent). The price for breakfast at the hotel was absurdly high. What was nice was the frequent shuttle to and from Harvard Yard. Not a great hotel but not bad, either.

Pros: Definitely a nice place to stay: clean, safe, comfortable, all those things. Nice workout room. The best part of this hotel is the view of the St. Charles River and Boston. That part alone is worth staying here.
Cons: It's a 10 min+ walk to the nearest Metro station, so we ended up taking a cab more than we would have liked. Same applies for restaurants, a little too far to walk to eat. We were here for the Marathon so we didn't want to walk that much. Not only is breakfast not free, its pricey (about $15).
