This was a pretty average Marriott. Decent and friendly service. Great location. My only real complaint was that the beds were too soft, even with bed boards. The beds need to be replaced.

But I am writing for another reason. It was Harvard's commencment week, and this hotel did something which i consider almost criminal. Of course, hotels take advantage of demand situations, and I guess that's ok. But they were charging in the $500 - $550 a night range for rooms normally priced at around $170. I knew about this and wanted to get this location, so I used Marriott points to reserve about 9 months in advance. I only was billed the exhorbitant $35 a night for valet parking and for the over priced breakfast and drinks. But come on guys, you don't have to take advantage of the public like that, especially loyal Marriott customers. In an over-regulated state like Massahusetts and in such a liberal town as Cambridge, there ought to be laws that prevent them from doing this.

It doesn't relfect well on the Marriott brand overall either.

Room Tip: Stay away from the elevators. Ask for a new or harder mattress. Use points if you can for busy times. Or else you might as well upgrade to a Ritz, or stay in the suburbs.

The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was friendly and cheerful. It met my expectationof of what i expect from a Marriott hotel. It is very convenient to visitng MIT and other attractions in the Boston area and located across the street from the Kendall stattion.. This was a busy place and unfortunately the guests outnumbered the capacity of the four elevators. The hotel accomodated my request for an early checkin.

This is a comfortable hotel, with large rooms, located close to MIT and not far from Harvard. As usual in this town, there are no smoking rooms, but at least there is a covered area with some seats where smoking is permitted.
There is a conference centre on-site and a good, American style restaurant. A Legal Seafood is only steps away.

Stayed in May as part of large school group. The hotel is right on the Red subway line = very convenient. Area is nice and close to many schools = MIT and Harvard. Also convenient to many restaurants.

Room Tip: All rooms have good view if staying on higher level.

Loved this hotel. Usually we stay in Back Bay/Copley Square area when visiting our daughter at Boston University, but because it was BU's graduation, it was difficult to find a hotel near campus. We wanted to stay at a Marriott and this was suggested to us. This hotel worked out well for us for our numerous trips to campus for the graduation activities throughout the weekend. It's about a 5 minute taxi ride or if you prefer the "T" you are literally steps from the Kendall Square stop. The hotel staff was great, the rooms were quiet and comfortable, especially the bed. "Champs" restaurant is a great option for breakfast or lunch. Hotel is in a great area and about two blocks from the MIT campus. Many restaurants, shops and bars in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room as high up in the hotel as possible facing the Charles River so you get the large windows that give you a great view of the city at night and lots of light during the day.
