“Surprised but delighted”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2012

Visited the museum on a Saturday after seeing the reviews on Trip and was delighted I did.
Small but perfectly formed it showcases some of the breakthrough technologies that MIT has produced over the years such as solar energy. I arrived early and was almost alone for most of the time, but it filled up before I left. Highly recommended.
Plus I bought the kids astronaut's freeze-dried ice cream from the shop, how cool was that.

“ROBOTS!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2012

Honestly, where else are you going to see the breaking edge robots of Artificial Intelligence research. Don't care- then skip this museum. Freaking excited about it- come on in.

Another display explains the MIT tradition of hacking(techno-practical jokes like a Dr Who dalek on top of a campus building). Display includes the remains of a piano dropped from many stories and the sequential photography recording the event.

Receding glaciers and whimsical art are other displays.

It is a galloping good place to let your imagination and techno-creativity loose to run around a bit.

Crazy fun baby gifts and other gifts in store too. Baby shirt with verbal software instructions for taking care of the baby ending with last option if all else has failed "Don't break it"

“Hands-On, Minds-On”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

What a great museum. Lots of interactive exhibits - ideal for kids and curious adults; anyone interested in the science of everyday stuff. They frequently have free events for the public, so be sure to pay attention to their newsletter or ask the front information desk about upcoming events, lectures, seminars and demonstrations. Very nerdy, but in a very approachable way. Oh, and they have a fantastic gift shop.

“Filled with up-to-date knowledge if take the time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

If you are the type to walk past exhibits without spending much time reading and interacting with them, then this will be a very short visit. It is a small museum if you just look at the size and floor plan, however every corner is packed with little tidbits of tech history and gadgets for you to play with. It oozes MIT culture. There are some nice, very current exhibits on the 1st floor on what current MIT researchers are working on. Sometimes there are very cool events, so check the online calender. If you are visiting MIT campus, you can swing on by the museum, then walk over to Toscinini's around the corner for some great ice cream. If you like what you see in the Museum, then you should definitely visit the actual campus (e.g. go to the new Media Lab, explore the Stata Center, walk through the lobby of the Koch Institute).
