Description: The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. Located in the courtyard of the Charles Hotel, our restaurant evokes the simple style of the original Legal Sea Foods that was in nearby Inman Square, Cambridge. In warmer months our outside patio reels in those who choose the fresh seafood and fresh air combo. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

“Gluten-free Menu!”
Reviewed November 28, 2011

Our daughter is gluten-intolerant. We were so happy to find out that Legal Seafood has a special menu AND they make the most delightful g-free rolls. They actually look like cup cakes and taste amazing.

“Definitely on the decline”
Reviewed November 27, 2011

This Legal Sea Foods used to be a good restaurant - but not any longer. The food is mediocre - not well cooked or presented at all. The personnel rotate through the place monthly it seems. Many of the good cooks were siphoned off to the new Legal that opened on the waterfront. What used to be a neighborhood gem is no longer. It seems as though the ownership could not care less. Those of us who live in the neighborhood have many options - this may not be one of them much longer.

“Reliable Boston seafood”
Reviewed October 20, 2011

The chain of Legal Seafoods always has good clam chowder and reliably good though not imaginatively presented fish and lobster. I had a small lobster, a little spendy given it's small size, but plenty for one and cooked just right - tender and not rubbery. The sauteed spinach side was cooked just right - still some crunch instead of the usual green mush but the onion strings were disappointingly chewy rather than crunchy. The menu has reasonable variety of fish and preparations though all fairly standard. The service was very attentive and friendly from our initial greeting by the hostess to our waitress. I'd recommend Legal sea foods for reliably good, though unimaginative, East coast seafood. Definitely try the clam chowder - worth the calories and sodium.

“Good food, service was slow, a bit expensive”
Reviewed October 9, 2011

4th Legal location that we have tried. This one not up to the standards of the other 3. Lobster roll was excellent. Chowder was ok. Salad w/ Shrimp average. Service was very, very slow at 2:30 on a Saturday.
