“Calming and filling”
Reviewed September 28, 2009

Walking into Ranzen is like walking into a retreat. I find it instantly calming. I have always enjoyed the food, especially the most traditional dishes, the soups and the vegetarian dishes. Now that there are several other Tibetan restaurants in the area, I find that Ranzen has some strong competition in the areas of food and service (so slow!), but no restaurant around matches Rangzen's atmosphere.

Just fyi, I always have the urge to go to Rangzen on Sundays and Mondays, and I think they are closed both days. Call to check before making the trek.

“Lighter than Chinese food, with wonderful subtle flavors”
Reviewed February 3, 2009

The lunch buffet is a good deal here.

You can choose to eat pretty healthy ( green beans, cauliflower ) or you can indulge in some of their mushroom chicken for something more filling. I really like the citrus/tomato/cilantro salsa that you can add to any of the dishes. Tea, bread, fresh fruit, it's all included in the buffet.

This is not a fancy place, it's low key and if you'd like to linger awhile after your meal and drink some more tea, I'm pretty sure the two sisters who run the place won't mind.

“Take Out”
Reviewed September 13, 2008

I had ordered MOMO THUKPA, THUNLAM TOSOE, and DESHI . I have to say it is good. Momo Thukpa surely good for winter or when you feel run down. I added some spice in there for a kick, it was excellent. Thunlam Tosoe was a good try for three appetizer, i think it was just a little bit oily. Deshi, alike middle east dessert. Very good as well. Good to try!
