you would not believe the food in this place. if you were blindfolded and brought here, you could swear you are in tibet!
the food is very tasty, good size portions and very inexpensive. Please try their buttery/spicy sweet tea after meal. you may or may not love it but it is unique!!

Rangzen is one of my favorites restaurants in Cambridge, I went there several times. It's a small and cozy place. It's great for both for lunch and for dinner. Buffet lunch is particularly convenient because you can try a variety of food for a very cheap price. The food seemed to me healthy and not fat or over fried, so no sense of heaviness after eating there. Many dishes are veggy based. I suggest trying the steamed dumplings and their barely tea. I did not find the waiters particularly friendly and nice, but their service was good all the times I went there. It's quite a small place so you might end up waiting for a place, but usually not that long. In my opinion the buffet is a must try.

Tibetan food is very different from Thai or Indian or other Asian options. It may take some getting used to for an American palette. But I love this place, the portions are large, the food is fresh and comes out quickly, and the owner operator is very Tibetan. There is a small library in the back of interesting Tibet related books that are worth perusing as well.

We discovered this restaurant under the correct conditions. Miserable wet cold winter weather. The windows of Rangzen were fogged over and the place was really warm and steamy inside from the steam tables and all of the people inside. All of the food was hot and we were immediately warmed up. The buffet at lunch time is the way to go so that you can sample a little of each of the Tibetan dishes. The problem is alway to keep from eating too much. My take on Tibetan food is that you can see some of the influence of China and India but the spicing is on the delicate side and quite different from either. The food is mountain designed to nourish you in a cold and hostile climate. We have eaten there many times. It is always excellent. The Dalai Lama eats there when in Cambridge.
