I read about LA Burdick on Yelp and decided to give it a try while exploring Cambridge. I am so glad we came. This spot is really unique, cosy and obviously has great treats. Beautiful cakes that look like pieces of art, macarons, and of course--their famous hot chocolate.
Even though it was early in the afternoon, the place was completely packed. What stood out to me were the tiny tables--definitely not designed for those who enjoy too many chocolates, shall we say.
The hot chocolate was literally melted chocolate. I had never experienced anything like it. It was strong and powerful, and obviously delicious. My chocolate croissant was in fact, amazing. The chocolate filling inside was quite generous and it was very very fresh. I also tried the macarons which were quite tiny in comparison to let's say--Maison Laduree--but they weren't bad. I definitely wouldn't say they were the best macarons I have tried. I wanted the pistachio ones and they gladly took some out for me from the back, however, they were still frozen which leads me to believe they are not made in-house.
The only complaint I have is the service. I found the cashier to be a bit impatient and rude.
