Great service, great rooms. The only ding I can give them is that the business office is not included. I needed to do an airline-check-in. I would think that a hotel of this class would not want to nickle and dime guest for use of the business office.

I recently stayed in this hotel. The hotel is nice located in the center of Cambridge minutes away from downtown Boston. The first thing that struck me was the bed :) yes again. The beds are way too fluffy for my taste. I asked the reception and they immediately added boards underneath the mattress and removed the feather top cushion. That really helped. The hotel is not very contemporary. Free internet if you don't mind giving away your email address. There is a free wine and beer hour at the reception in the evening (it was form 5 to 6 pm)
The breakfast is a la carte. So you have to select from different items in the menu as opposed to indulging into an open buffet kinda thing.
the gym is way too packed, still can make use of it in rainy days. I used the outdoors instead. Much nicer to jog by the river Charles.
Rooms aren't very spacious yet still sufficient space to move around. The walls are very thin so do not except any privacy!
Walking distance to MIT and Harvard ( if you do not mind a 20 min walk!) Shopping center is literally next door. Boat trips and all.
Overall good hotel but a bit pricey.

Room Tip: I asked for a view but do not expect any decent view as opposed to what is advertised. There is no c...

Dear karacali,

So glad we were able to make the bed as comfortable as possible for you. You'll find that over the less busy months of the year (December-March) the rates are noticeably cheaper. We hope you come back again.

I had a great 3-night stay at the Marlowe Kimpton Hotel. Having said that, I can see it being not perfect for everyone's tastes. It's not the cheapest hotel in Boston, but still good value - what really sold it for my girlfriend and I are the free kayak and bicycle rentals, which really make it outstanding value and enable you to see the city in a different way. The room was not the biggest, but very elegant, clean and comfortable, with a nice bathroom. No breakfast, but complimentary coffee and tea every morning, as well as a wine reception in the afternoon. Location is good very close to the river - but it is in Cambridge, so not central - be prepared to walk (or cycle) to the nearest T station. Was not a problem for us, but might be for others. Having said that, it is a lovely hotel.

Dear charliebobo,

We're so glad you were able to enjoy the bikes & kayaks! There's nothing quite like the view of the city from the middle of the Charles. We really appreciate the review as well. Hope you have a great one and we can't wait to see you again soon!

I don't usually get to travel with my dog. If I want to travel internationally they usually want to quarantine him for six months. If I want to fly he needs a Bill of Health and I need to spend more money on his airfare than my own... but, occasionally, I have the privilege of traveling to a city with a Kimpton Hotel... in this case it was Hotel Marlowe. I was attending a philosophy conference at Harvard and brought my dog along with me. While I was away they watched him, fed him, and they even had treats for him when I checked in. Forgot a water bowl or a travel bed? No worries - they've got extras. Despite being pet-friendly they manage to maintain a beautiful property - cleaner than lots of hotels I've been to that ban pets outright!

Dear Brian A,

Here at Kimpton, we truly believe that when the family travels, the Entire Family should be able to enjoy the trip. Not to mention all the little perks that go with the Hotel. :)

Thank you so much for the great review! We can't wait to see you and the whole family again!

The hotel is constructed around an inner courtyard with car port and circle. I valeted by car for $30 but I think there is also a self park option at the Cambridgeside mall which is attached to the hotel.

Great room product and noticeably comfortable bedding. Nothing felt dated. I had a room facing the courtyard so it was silent as can be; Perhaps if you want more light you can ask for a room facing out towards the street (but I cannot speak for the noise).

I did not get a chance to see the gym on the top floor. They do have a nice common "living room" at the entrance where guests can get coffee and read the paper.

Ended up walking along the Charles River and across the bridge to Back Bay, but I did not notice easy public transportation and I did not see a preponderance of cabs on my way out on Saturday evening.

All in all, great value for the quality of the product and close enough to anything in Cambridge or Boston.

Room Tip: I had an even numbered room, which was on the left walking counterclockwise from the elevator. Thos...

Dear S K,

Thank you so much for the great review! Those beds are amazing, aren't they. The Lechmere T Station only about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel so you know for a future stay. :)

Hopefully next time you'll be able to see the great views from some of the other rooms too. See you again soon.

This place is fantastic. The rooms are clean, big, and tastefully appointed....and VERY quiet (well, when you request a quiet room). The beds and pillows are beyond comfortable, I hit the sheets and I was out in a matter of minutes. Location is a bit less than ideal, it's not right on the T (public transportation), but Boston is a quick cab ride away (or a decent walk on a nice day). The hotel bar is great, the bartenders are friendly and drinks are reasonably priced. The staff is excellent, everyone is very friendly and does their best to make your stay exceptional. If you drive and park overnight, self parking is very reasonably priced (cheap for Boston) in a secure garage under the hotel. If you forget anything on a trip, the hotel is attached to a mall with all kinds of stores.

Only downside is that it's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. I definitely recommend and will stay there again on my next trip to Cambridge.

Room Tip: Request a "Quiet Room", they will give you a room away from the elevators and away from th...

There are certain times of year when the rates aren't quite so high. try checking back with us during December-March. The rates are great, if you don't mind a little snow.
