Our son just completed his first year of graduate school at MIT. I booked a room at The Kendall last fall when we moved him to MIT. After that weekend, my husband and I immediately knew that The Kendall would be our Cambridge home when visiting our son. Home is a true descriptor to use for The Kendall because we were treated as if we were visting the home of dear relative rather than spending a few nights in a hotel.

We returned to Cambridge for the Memorial Day weekend, and our second visit was just as phenomenal as the first. I had requested the same room we had last fall, but upon check-in, we were surprised that we had been upgraded to one of their awesome 1-bedroom suites. What a pleasant surprise! The suite was warm, beautifully decorated (as is the entire hotel), and very spacious. With a kitchen, 2 tv's, and a sofa bed, this room is large enough for us to travel with our twin daughters for future trips.

Both times we have stayed at The Kendall we have met the most interesting, friendly people. The hotel is small enough that when you eat breakfast, you have the opportunity to meet and chat with other guests. During this trip we met two families who were actually sad that this would be their last stay at The Kendall. Both families had children graduating from Harvard, and they had made The Kendall their Cambridge home for the past four years.

If you are planning to visit the Boston/Cambridge area, The Kendall is where you want to stay. I recommend that you call the hotel directly or e-mail Brenda (marketing director) brenda@kendallhotel.com when you want to reserve a room so they can help you select a room that will best suit your needs. Every room at The Kendall is unique which is what makes this historic hotel such an interesting place to visit.

Please fee free to e-mail me if you have any questions about The Kendall. We are already looking forward to our next visit which will hopefully be later this summer.

We loved our recent stay at the Kendall Hotel in Cambridge. The staff and service was amazing. We had a wonderful large comfortable room as did our friends with whom we travelled. The reasonable price of the room included an amazing hot buffet breakfast plus many other perks. The hotel is located just across the Charles River from Boston which made it very quiet. It is conveniently located 1 block from the subway stop and the hop on hop off bus stop which made it very easy to get anywhere. The area also offered a variety of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Boston.

The charm, style and comfort of the Kendall are only matched by its warmth and welcome - this is a long overdue declaration to fellow travellers that this is such a lovely hotel, it almost makes going out in Boston and Harvard a chore...but the good news is, as it is so well placed for both, that you can get back to it quickly- or 'home' quickly, such is the feeling. The weekday wine tasting hour on its top floor with views out over MIT and the city, and the great food at The Black Sheep in-house restaurant , plus the winter open fire and the huge soft armchairs in the lobby make it that extra bit special, as if the comfortable, clean, stylish, ample rooms were not enough to tempt you. And no, I am not on the pay-roll...just a very impressed repeat customer!

As always, the Kendall never disappoints. My most recent visit was May 2-4, 2013. My sister and I were upgraded to the 1 Bedroom Suite! We had a great, relaxing stay. We ate at the Black Sheep restaurant both nights and were not disappointed, as the food and service were wonderful. The bed was very comfortable.

During my daughter’s four years in college, we searched Boston for that perfect hotel that we could call home. The Kendall Hotel was that and much, much more. If you like doormen, bellmen, room service, lavish amenities, and modern furnishings, this hotel is not for you. But, if you like a hotel that makes you feel at home with welcoming smiles from staff members who are passionate about making sure you have everything you need to be comfortable, a bowl piled with crisp, green apples to eat, a living room full of interesting books, and cozy chairs to relax in after a long day in the city, a small restaurant that serves delicious local cuisine and serves up a wonderful complimentary buffet breakfast complete with homemade bread and jams and finally, well kept rooms that are uniquely shaped and furnished in an Early American East Coast style with plush, comfortable beds, and many more thoughtful details, than this is the place for you. The hotel, which sits in the shadow of neighboring MIT buildings, inhabits an old firehouse that adds much charm and history to your experience. It is one block away from the “T” station, or easy walking distance of Beacon Hill area just across the river, or a short cab ride to most places in the Back Bay or Cambridge. Thank you Kendall hotel, Brenda and staff for your gracious hospitality during our stays. You made our time with you very special. We hope to see you one day soon...

Room Tip: Every room is unique. It took staying at the hotel a few times to discover my favorites. The hotel...

I have a cooperation with MIT and typically try to stay at the Kendall since it is nice and nearby. Breakfast is included and I like the charm of the hotel. It can be pricy depending on the events nearby (commencement week, this rowing contest) but then all hotels nearby are pricy. This stay I had a king bed room.

This historical property was perfect for my four day stay in Boston area. Staff was very friendly, attentive and welcoming. Beautifully appointed property with antiques/folk art. My room was lovely, comfy bed, very clean. (Yummy breakfast too!) I'll definitely stay again next time I visit.
