I debated over this location and the chain hotel up the street but booked this one because I wanted the reward points. All in all a decent stay but next time we visit Boston I might be tempted to book elsewhere.
-Location to the T is ideal. It is half a block away and it's the end of the green line so it's not super busy with transfers. It's also a short walk to a grocery store and dunkin. We also appreciated the proximity to MIT. Getting to the red line is hassle so we just walked. It isn't the most attractive neighborhood but it's a brief walk.
-Free parking. We ditched the rental car before our stay but we had friends visiting during the day and let them use our free parking which worked out great.
-Clean and aside from the usual door slamming, quiet. The mattresses weren't the best ever but the most comfortable on our entire trip and perfectly acceptable. Although the pillows left something to be desired. The alarm clock had a sound machine feature which was nice.
-The front desk was more than helpful and were happy to hold onto our bags before and after check out.
-I wouldn't call the breakfast restaurant quality but we were able to fine enough items to keep us full until lunch.
-Seriously, why does hampton inn not invest in fans in the bathroom? It's so odd!! Also the door was too tight and would get stuck on the floor tiles. Best I could come up with is that it's a 100% privacy feature of absolutely no gap under the door but it made it annoying trying to close the door.
-We were early so we ditched the bags and went to lunch in North End. We picked up some desserts at Mikes Pastry only to come back to the hotel and realize that the rooms do not have a fridge. The lack of a fridge and microwave are literally the only reason why we probably won't be staying again.
-Some of the nice bathroom supplies from our previous stay in a Hampton Inn was missing in this one (qtips, shower cap, make up remover towel).
-Not a lot of decent food options in the immediate area (although there is a cheesecake factory within walking distance which made it extra frustrating that there wasn't a fridge or microwave so we couldn't take our leftovers). We opted to go to the North End the entire time.
