While the surface is a bit rough in places, and it gets crowded with joggers and other bikes on the weekend, this is a beautiful path and a great way to get around Cambridge. If you take it all the way to the end by Lechmere and the science museum, take a right at the end of Land Blvd, cross over on the crosswalk and take Museum Way to North Point Park. Ride through the park and you will end up on the beautiful new bike bridge (thank you stimulus package) that takes you to Paul Revere Park in Charlestown - it's a great ride.

We only did the 2-3 mile ride along the river from Back Bay to Cambridge to tour Harvard. It was a very pleasant experience. The path was wide, a few construction spots, but overall, very safe and shaded. The view of Boston skyline was terrific. People were doing Tai-chi and other exercises in the parks. The crew and sail boats were cool.

As bike paths go, this one is up there. Being on the banks of a river means it's flat, and it also has good views. It's also fairly quiet, considering the amount of traffic nearby. Also, since it follows the river, it's not just a straight stretch, such as many bike paths based on old railway lines are.

So, all in all, more interesting and more pleasant than most.

The path offers fantastic views of the river and the city. We always felt very safe and enjoyed seeing the wide array of recreation available. Walking, running, biking and seeing people enjoying the river via boat.

The bike path is a great place for a ride or a run. Its absolutely beautiful. I ran the path in December and in July and it was equally beautiful.
