I first apologize to the General Manager of Hotel Veritas, Benson Willis, as I had fully intended to post my review sooner, but my business travels have kept me on the road for weeks. Reader please note; this is most certainly not a paid or comped endorsed review, I am not an editor or blogger looking for perks for singing anyone praises.
I would like to start by saying should you have the pleasure of booking one of the beautifully appointed rooms at this chic boutique hotel, consider yourself very fortunate; its a small establishment tucked away off Massachusetts Ave and in a busy, noisy urban town, this spot is a quiet and insulated as your own posh bubble. Granted, there is in fact a subway system that runs through the city and yes, at 8Am you might hear a bit of rumbling from that railway, but you are in a major metropolitan region and be happy you have that - taking the Redline and the Greenline trains can cost only $15 for a full week all train pass so no car, no hefty parking fees, no meters - just a chance to walk and ride to view the gorgeous city that is Cambridge and Boston.
So on to the rooms. OK, smaller than some of the chain hotels agreed, but so beautifully done, such attention to decor and detail that I felt I was lodging at the poshest of pensions in Paris or Berlin - if you are from Idaho and are used to a Comfort Inn, this is not your vibe, however if you appreciate elegance, convenience, the most comfy bed on the planet, then you will love these rooms. The bath is nicely laid out, my only suggestion is the hotel install a few more racks and or hooks, there doesn't seem to be a place to set you wash cloth or towels when not in use. The toiletries are delicious and heady scented so you'll truly love that after a long day of sight seeing or meetings.
The staff however, is by far the most appealing enhancement to your stay at the Hotel Veritas. Not one individual, from the ladies in the AM to the gracious men in the evening, left me without a complimentary hot cup of tea or Nepresso coffee, waters or other refreshments. They address each need and concern professionally, with grace and always smiling and approachable. GM Willis has a very fine team and I award him on his choice for who should be the "face" of the property - grand staff indeed!
Dining, shopping, theater, history and everything in-between (complimentary fitness and yoga just across the street too) awaits you in this wonderful town, so if you can snag a dandy room at the Hotel Veritias I can assure from one who travels all over the US and aboard, I will always return to this lovely nook to relax, enjoy and savor every moment of my New England travels.
