This is a good hotel for non uptight people...for those who are fussy there are 2 -3 low points
1- It is a Conde Nast Johansens recommended hotel ( nice surprise).
2- The hotel is new and fresh.
3-The room is well designed for small space. Queen room is suitable only for one person.
4-This hotel is in a great location and it is very cute.
5-The interior design is rich & luxurious yet modern and pleasant.
6-The Concierge ( esp. 2 of them - one is Laurie) were outstanding, competent, friendly, always smiling and very helpful in solving all the problems.
7-Everything works out very well including business center for such a tiny hotel.
It feels like a tiny British boutique hotel with warm family like service. One staff does all.
8-Free Local calls
10-Partnership with local Gym across the street (free)
11-Free juices, coffee, water all day
Low Points: ( sorry to have to mention this)
1- I do expect a little more from a hotel that costs US$340 per night without breakfast .
The hotel does not offer even paid breakfast which can be bad for most people who like to have even simple Continental Breakfast in the morning though one can find places near by like Au bon pain standard around for fresh fruits but going out into the cold or rain is not fun.
The choice is going out or being hungry.
The hotel does not offer meals ( lunch or dinner) so you will have to go out for dinner.
Though again, there are good options at Harvard Sq, fun places, award winning chefs around. But if you are a very tired business man who wish to have dinner watching CNN, tough luck...no 'frigo' bar in the room either.
They do offer all day free bottle juices , great machine made coffee and Mexican (?) salty-sweet oily, herbal top, big crackers ( not quite edible to me ...) at the front desk - self- service pick up very easy.
2-House Keeping - Need Training a little more
Not sure if it is me..but a Conde Nast Johansens recommended hotel should have a fabulously comfortable bed, I mean the sheets should be completely straight & tuck in tightly not loose ( I am a very still and quiet sleeper so this is not my doing). The house keeper did not remove the bed sheets and re do them each day to keep the bed well stretched.
The sheets were not changed for a few days maybe due to water saving. I can tell because there was a cigarette size whole in the sheet which should have been reported.
She left used wash clothes once and next day her own cleaning cloth. Maybe she is in a hurry?
3- The pillows were not quality goose down but acceptable.
All of the 3 items above can be easily fixed with customer feed back form to see if they would like the hotel to offer muffins, bagels or similar, even banana, apples or cereal bars.
OVER ALL - Hotel Veritas is a good and new hotel possibly the best in Cambridge.
For busy people the location gives a lovely bird eye view of the nice area. Staying in Boston would be a waste and boring unless you are the "must " Mandarin Oriental or similar type people.
Hotel Veritas helpful staff ( 2 of them) are just as nice and good as any staff at a Mandarin Oriental.
I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Veritas and Cambridge, Mass.
