This was a big surprise! The museum was exceptionally good with a large variety of topics. Don't miss the rock exhibit near the exit!

“Perfect sized natural history museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013

I used to go to this museum as a child half a century ago when it was not a world class tourist attraction. While lighting is improved and there are better exhibit narratives, etc. it has not lost the
charm of the Victorian era natural history museum--the class cases, dioramas, etc. The glass flowers are truly a marvel and a must see.

The best aspect of this part of the museum along with the Peabody (which is connected to this and can be seen with the same admission ticket) is that it is a manageable size. There is a richness to the collection but it is not overwhelmingly large. And when you go out, you are in a verdant green setting.

“Outstanding Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

We went to this museum during the first day of our vacation in Boston. Great choice! The museum exceeded our expectations. We spent over three hours and wanted to stay longer! They have a variety of different exhibit types from animals to geology. This is a place I highly recommend. It was also nice walking through Harvard campus with all of the history around you.

“Must See: Glass Flowers Collection”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013

While visiting friends in Boston, they took me to see the Glass Flowers Collection. It is simply amazing, as is the story about how it came to be. Don't miss the excellent video (which features a wonderfully simple explanation of the history behind the collection) or the plaque on the wall noting that the collection is dedicated to a man who considered plants to be his friends. In a word: Go! You will be amazed!

“Dem Bones”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

My grandsons compared this favorably to the Smithsonian in DC. If you like nature, you will like this. A word of warning.....if you take a taxi there, have him drop you off at Harvard Yard and then walk. If he has to drive there he will have to take you on a tour on one way streets. It's faster to walk from the Yard.
