We found this hotel when we came out to see a rugby game in Calvisano last December and just had to come back again this year for longer. Beautiful rooms, friendly and attentive service, very close to the best trattoria in Montichiari (Barbel) and a really good base to explore Lake Garda, Verona, Mantova and Milan. All at a price that is fantastic value for money, what's not to love? The Novello sisters have created an absolute gem!

Room Tip: Superior rooms are well worth the small extra you pay. No lifts so low floor would be essential for...

This is my 2nd stay at Palazzo Novello. First one was in summer and it felt fantastic. Nice and cozy old building with an nice little garden. Breakfast is B&B/3 star like; simple but sufficient. If you need to place in the area, this is the one. I would stay there again.

On this trip however, the weather was just turning cold. You know those days, if it is sunny you need to turn on the A/C but in the evening you may need the heating. So, when I arrived I had the heater on in the car but hotel did not have the heating running yet. Polite owner manager, Nicoletta (sorry if I am wrong) was very apologetic about it but it did not help me. She had some sort of excuses that system was in repair. I was about to catch a cold and could not tolerate it. She immediately purchased a mobile heater and placed in my room. It solved the problem. However, I come across this often, particularly in Italy. Need to be careful on that in autumn or spring.

We stayed three nights at this beautyful palazzo and enjoyed our stay very much. We needed a very simple hotel to sleep while travelling. Hospitality of the owner was at the top level, we were treated like dear guests and that makes the whole thing. We were advised on places to eat and beautyful places to visit (like ancient castle for example which we would never find ourselves), and were given all the instructions about everything we need (to enter the gates of parking at night, etc etc). Ideal quiet and hidden location for travelling to Mantova, Brescia, Verona and Bergamo. Though we were leaving early and getting back late at night, we called the place home, as it feels home. Rooms are clean and beautyful, you can open windows that give to a beautyful green garden. The amenities are basic - but it's 3 stars and for 3 stars it's even more than can be expected. Breakfast good, with perfect coffee, and can be done in the garden. Everything was great, thank you!

Room Tip: We stayed in superior, it was spacious with 2 windows, very bright room, advised!

We had a great experience at Palazzo Novello. The palazzo is absolutely beautiful. The room was very nice and very spacious even with a crib for the baby. Everything in Montichiari is within walking distance from the hotel. Great starting point for northern Italy with a taste of a small, safe town with some very friendly people. You are in Italy and it's not a tourist town so the local language is Italian... Take advantage of it and try to talk Italian with the locals, you will be amazed at how long you can talk to them with only knowing a handful of words. Great for family, even a 16 month old baby; being able to walk around the restored residence and gardens... Highly recommend for anyone/everyone.

We had a couple of things to do in Montichiari and Brescia, so on the strength of the reviews on TripAdvisor, we decided to spend a Saturday night here. We were warmly welcomed by Kenda, one of the three Novello sisters, who run the place - Kenda is a Bocconi Economics graduate turned hotelier. The palace has been beautifully restored by the Novello family - the staircase with the frescoed ceiling is a real treat. We were given a very comfortable and spacious room, with a view on the garden - the sisters' father is a garden designer, and it shows. When Kenda learned that one of us was having an important birthday, she phoned the restaurant where we were having dinner so that the dessert came with proper birthday candles!

The place has opened about a year ago, so there is room for some improvements and minor tweaks. When I mentioned to Kenda that some muesli for breakfast would have been nice, she sent me an email a couple of days later, to confirm that it was added to the breakfast menu. Spending even a single night at Palazzo Novello is a delightful experience, that you should consider if you happen to be around here.

I stayed here as part of a corporate group as guests of a local forging company. The evening dinner was a buffet with so many courses that I lost count. Each course had it's own flavour and texture which made the evening more leisure time than part social and part business. There were colleagues there from 8 countries and the hotel catered for us with an excellent hospitality which was as individual as if we had been a much smaller group or even just as a couple. The Hotel was well appointed but kept the charm and sense of the original palazzo. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the area. In fact, a visit here even if it means a major diversion from your itinary would be well worth any trouble. Thanks to all there and I look forward to visiting you again.

Spent a week. The place is restaurated excellent. Felt as if we were in an aincent castle. Personal is very friendly and responsive. All the problems or nesesseties that we declared we solved at the minimum possible time.

Highly recommended for everyone who plans to stay in that area and finds the budget affordable.
