Owner description: The Castello di Bracciano - a stone's throw from Rome - is one of the most impressive castles in Italy, Europe and the world. Completed in 1485 by the Orsini family, around an existing 12th century Vico fortress, it is one of the few renaissance castles in Italy that - thanks to the Odescalchi family - is open to the public. It also plays host to numerous weddings, galas and important cultural events throughout the year.

“Interesting but too short tour”

The castle is a very interesting and the tour was good however too hurried. Rather than any time to look at the rooms after the guide gave some background, you were shepherded along at quite a fast pace. But generally worth doing.

“You can't miss it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013 via mobile

Maybe It is because i have lived inside this castle for 25 years (my parents were the guardians), but i have never seen such a wonderful castle like the Odescalchi's one.
It is one of the best conserved castles in Europe and tells amazing stories of medieval princesses and knigts. Along with the Italian Air Force Museum of Vigna di Valle is a must that you can't miss! (Ask to Tom Cruise and other VIPs who have chosen this fortress for their unforgettable weddings...).

If you book you can drink in the hystorical place. Then you can see, in these days, how many films taken around the fortress. So, you can plan yr wedding party.

“Definitely worth it for the view.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013

Having visited Bracciano many times I had never been inside the castle, so it was really time to go.

The sign outside the castle detail the costs and that they have tours in several languages. Make sure that you request a tour in your language otherwise they will give you one in Italian. Our tour was in Italian but wasn't a problem as we both speak the language fairly well.

Our tour guide was most informative and give us lots of information about the rooms and the history of the castle. We were lucky as we had the tour guide to ourselves (me and my girlfriend). The tour before us had about 20 people on it.

It is definitely a once in a life time experience. The view from the castle was amazing. Definitely go on a nice day.

“Here is where Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes got married”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

I had been told that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes got married here - The Odescalchi Castle. Since we arrived Bracciano, I had been soooo looking forward to visiting the castle.

Fee is required for the entrance and guide tour.

The guide tour was conducted in Italian (though the group we joined was more English speaking people than Italian...). Inside the castle, they do have some signboards on the wall, to give brief introduction about the function of each room in English. Even though you may not be able to understand what the guide tour said, just read from the board yourself okay =)

The garden area outside the castle and the open area in the castle are allowed to take photos, apart from that, it is forbidden to take photos inside the castle.

Overall, I enjoyed the visit to the castle. You know, the 'Castle' thing is like a dream to every girl. This is the only and famous one in Bracciano, it is unique and got its own history. I don't consider it is a waste or boring to visit it. It definitely made my day =)
