This is one of those places that surprises you when you see it. It is a gorgeous gorge that is breath taking whenever you see it. Alabama has 4 fairly distinct seasons and each one has its own splendor. I love the fall when the leaves are turning. This year the leaves didn't turn until late October and into early November. But, any time is the right time to visit. Bring your camera and a swim suit and snorkel if you want to test the water. My son would say bring your hiking boots and climbing gear.... It is also a great place to get married. As a minister I have performed many weddings at the overlook for the falls. Come see what Alabama is all about, Great food, people and scenery.

I have worked there for over 20 years. The views are spectacular - lots of fun things to do!

The only fee is at the Canyon Mouth picnic area - $3 a car load per visit or you can purchase a $10 season pass.

Spent the day site seeing around Fort Payne, Alabama area. We went hiking in Desoto State Park and drove the 12 scenic miles of the Little River Canyon. Beautiful place to spend the day as a family.

The falls are lovely, but do ot iss the 12 mile scenic drive by the canyon. Many overlooks as you travel by the gorge - like an Eastern Grand Canyon.

This is great for hiking, but also for those who can't get out and walk very far. Lots of nice over looks. We spent a few hours one day exploring while we were in the Fort Payne area. The falls which are under the overpass had some beautiful photo ops of fall scenery. There were actually a couple professional photographers taking photos.
