“a peaceful, lovely place”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

a very warm place, run with passion and attention to details. very quite, despite being close to the road, but only 1/2 km away from a nice small Irish village.
very close to the Lake, but not in the most touristic settlements . thus mantains a clear identity and personality.
the best full Irish breakfast that we had in Ireland, with much home-made stuff.

the kindness of the owners, Ursula and Hogan, is simply a distillate of all the beauties of Irish people.
highly suggested.

The B&B is great, location is wonderful, sadly, I stayed only for one night. I would love to come back and stay a few nights since there's plenty of things to do in Mountshannon. Also, it was an evening to remember since my plan was to go to bed early, but luckily I witnessed the famous Irish hospitality when I was offered a glass of hot whiskey by the fireplace. I was very lucky to be staying there.

Hi Diana, Thanks so much for the lovely review, we were delighted to have met you & to have had a nice chat by the fireside - it's that time of the year when the nights are closing in fast & getting chilly! We do hope you will return to stay with us again when you may have more time to spare.
Best wishes & take care, Regards, Ursula & Noel.

I stayed at Hawthorn Lodge for two nights and enjoyed it very much. Ursula gave me a very warm welcome and was very attentive. The room was big, tidy and bright and nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was absolutely brilliant. Definitely one of the best B&Bs I've ever been to!

Ursula gave us such a wonderful welcome, our room was really quiet and comfortable and much needed after the days work. Mountshannon is one of those places i will love to go back to there is so much to do, Our breakfast was really good and the homemade granola with fresh strawberries is a must. I will certainly be back.

Hi Claire, Thanks a mill for the lovely review, it's true there are lots of interesting things to see & do in Mountshannon including our new White Tailed Sea Eagles flying around the harbour. I also
enjoyed the conversation we had & look forward to meeting you both again sometime - we're not that far away from Dublin anymore with all the great roads we have now! Cheers

Stayed at hawthorn lodge for a night with my three boys.Fantastic welcome by Ursula and the boys were delighted with the lovely gardens and footballs to play with.We were most happy with the fact that we were provided with a cot and baby blankets for our 2 year old and the boys loved the fact they each had heir own beds.Breakfast was lovely and the baby had his own high chair set at he table.Ursula was helpful and friendly and took great time to chat and make sure we had everything.Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this b and b to any family or couple travelling in east Clare. Thanks to Ursula for making us feel most welcome. Will definitely stay again in near future.

We spent 10 days with Ursula and her family while our daughter was dancing with the Muggivan School of Irish Dance's "Dance on the Shannon". It was truly our "home away from home". Ursula was an amazing host. We were well taken care of, the breakfasts were wonderfully delicious and always "made to order". Ursula was always open to assisting us with our daily hiking plans, made sure we had water for our backpack and was willing to make sure we had everything we needed for our afternoons and evenings. Our room was wonderfully comfortable and we had everything we needed to make our stay relaxed and welcomed. Ursula and her family even came to the dance concert, on the last day of the camp and joined us all at the local pub for fun later!! Can not say enough for the personalized, gracious care we were provided during our stay. We will be back!

seeing you all again sometime. Best wishes & thanks again for taking the time to review our home. Kind regards, Ursula & Noel.

we stayed in this B&B for a family event near by. The beds were really comfortable, and the rooms were lovely. The garden was really big and a trampoline for the kids to play in. The family was really nice and friendly and their kids played with our kids. The breakfast was lovely. I will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: All three rooms lovely.
