Once again, Iceland = waterfalls. This one's a good one.

Drive up, get out, and marvel at the sheer elemental force of tonnes of water free-falling and slamming into the pool below. If you don't mind getting a little wet (read: completely drenched), you can get really close to the falls, and take in the majesty of the moment. The viewing platform above the cliffs is well placed, featuring a transparent floor that adds a real thrill to the experience. A great, short, free stop-off on your ring-road adventure!

Skógafoss is an enormous waterfall. It remains unique because its water comes directly from two glaciers, Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull, so don’t be afraid to get drenched when you’re too close. There is also a long flight of stairs on the right-hand side that leads to a view from above, however we didn’t attempt the climb as the ice was too slippery during winter.

Amazing waterfall with scenic views. We stopped at it on our south coast day trip. Climb to the top and you won’t be disappointed!

Don’t get me wrong...this Foss is amazing and the sheer power of the falls was breathtaking. It was somewhat anticlimactic after spending 1.5 hours hiking and climbing the waterfall “next door”.

The parking lot is right there. You almost can call this a drive thru waterfall as you could stay in your car (but don’t). However if your able bodied and up for an easy challenge - walk next door to Kvernufoss.

We can walk close to the falls and also hike up to the top using the steps nearby to get a top view.

Worth hiking to the top to get a different view. Can get close to the waterfall on the base as well. Apparently on very windy days the water nearly blows upward and you can stand under and not get wet. It was windy when we were there, but not that windy.

This is one of the falls you can fly your drone in the area and get spectacular views. There is also a hike up the side of the falls you can do to get some good selfie shots. It was a falls that was one of our favourites!

big water fall and ok to walk to the bottom that is great, and top of water needs to take walk to hundreds stair, over view is ok but main waterfall's angle is not good, no need to walk up if no time for it.

Skogafoss was one of our stops on our drive from Vik to Reykjavik and it was stunning. The falls look massive from the road, and as you get closer, they just get bigger and bigger. We were there at the end of October and it was surrounded by ice, but you could still walk pretty close to the bottom. The walk up the stairs is tough (we are in good shape and were still winded) but it is so worth it to see the falls from the top. You also have a stunning view of the surrounding area from the top of the falls. Definitely worth a stop. There are restrooms on site, but they have an honor system payment system (I believe it was like 150kr).

By the time we got here in the afternoon it was crowded but as the other group went straight to the base of the falls we climbed the stairway to the overlook above the falls. Spectacular hardly describes the view. Once we came back down the clouds had moved on and we were able to walk up near the base of the falls even in the ice. Make sure you have good rain gear as you will get wet. Well worth it!
