One of the most picturesque waterfalls of Iceland!
Don't get fooled by the very impressive last fall - if you can walk up stairs (i.e.: if it's not winter and the stairs are not covered with ice), do it: cascades after casades are waiting for you!

“Hang on...I recognise that waterfall.”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

One of the most recognisable of Icelands waterfalls as it has featured in many films from Thor 2 and Walter Mitty.

We came across this waterfall following a drive to ejafjallajökull. It is an imposing waterfall in the small village of Skogar.

There is a viewing platform for thise fit and able enough to climb the many steps. It is worth it for the view and the sense of achievement.

Legend has it that there is buried treasure behind it.

It's free to enter.

“mid winter stop”

this waterfall was really bracing in -7, but the icicles were a great addition to the photographs. It is a beautiful spot and the walk up to the top gives amazing views, worth every step.

“Picturesque”

A beautiful waterfall that you can walk right up to. If you're lucky there may be a rainbow but no pot of gold. The walk up to the top is hard work but worth it for the spectacular views. Not much else in the area so plan to do othe falls on the journey.

“Spectacular”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

We nearly didn't stop here as the tour was running late and we ended up sharing a tour guide with another group but very glad we did.

The famous black soil is all around you under foot and you can get as close as you dare to the majestic falls
