Midgard Adventures
Skogar to Porsmork hike and Landmannalaugar hike

Bjorg and Helga were our hiking guides on two magical hikes thru Icelandic wonderland. Both were very knowledgable and provided us with information regarding glaciers, volcanos and elves. Our 11 hour hike with Bjorg was spectacular and lucky for us she was patient, strong and caring, watching out for our 65 year old bodies and minds. At the end of the hike we were met by Bjorg's son and grandson for the best hotdogs and beer/soda. Of course the ride back thru rivers and over rocks was fun. Helga was fun and knowledgeable as we hiked thru geothermal pools and spectacular vistas.

We recommend Migard Adventures very highly and gladly.

We had a fantastic adventure getting up close to a glacier, hiking in a canyon along a river and seeing waterfalls. Thor did a nice job finding us sites to enjoy. Highly recommend using this company!

The beautiful landscape, the nice guy who drove us and told some Islandic stories - everything was perfect! I can recommend it to everyone who visits Iceland!

My partner and I are insane. We took a hard look at the (rightly) famous Laugavegur trek, one of the most beautiful in Iceland, and one which takes most people 2-4 days to complete, and said "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED." The trail is difficult to access, but fortunately someone referred us to Midgard. Did I mentioned we asked them for the impossible, to hike the next day? Well, they made it happen.

From the get-go, the communication was excellent. We received multiple phone calls and emails from their sweetheart of an administrator, Harpa, who let us know every stage of the trip planning. She then put us in touch with our guide, Siggi. Siggi was fantastic: he gave us incredibly useful information on what to expect on our crazy adventure, including advice for the multiple river crossings (!) and expected elevation changes. He also quizzed us on what gear we were planning to take to make sure we weren't going out under-prepared. He texted us at every hut to make sure we were still doing OK, then met up with us himself to hike the last couple kilometers with us. When we finally finished at close to midnight, Siggi grilled us up the best-tasting hot dogs of our lives, and drove us back in the super 4x4 from the trailhead to our car.

This one-of-a-kind, flexible tour, tailor-made to our unorthodox needs, seems like it shouldn't be possible. But thanks to our friends at Midgard, it was! Next time we're in Iceland, we know who to call!

There can't possibly by a better way to visit this part of Iceland. The quality of our guides, the selection of sites, the appropriate vehicles to go of the beaten track, driving down shallow rivers, over glaciers and across lava beaches to remote corners of this beautiful country-- this is the way to go. Bjarni, our attentive guide for two days, also a trained opera singer/talented musician, could not have been more knowledgeable, interesting and nice. Besides the breathtaking landscapes, the special Icelandic BBQ he organized will be etched in our minds as one of the most enjoyable moments of our collective travel memories.
